Corporate APCE...

Just got off the phone with a friend. After a 3 hour new project meeting, he now has the full details.

He is to move his and his teams jobs to an offshore source, with himself as the project manager until the move is complete. After which, he is out with a small severance.
If he quits now - no severance
If he refuses the Project - Fired, no severance
If he doesn't meet his deadline - Fired, no severance

And the severance isn't that good, but it's better than nothing.

CAPCE!!

If those are the options that they layed out without making him sign a contract I'd do one of two things:

1) Accept the project, look for and get another job before this project is complete and leave their sorry asses

2) Quit, quit now.

Option one is the path he will take. It gives him a month or so to look and still get paid. training your replacement is still teh suck...

I left my previous job for this exact reason. They wanted me to train my Chinese counterpart so my job could be moved off shore. Told my boss to have fun figuring out exactly all that I do, and quit.

Lots of folks I know IRL are getting that shaft deal, it sucks.

I'd look for a new job ASAP and leave those fockers focked.
Why help those who deign to stick stuff in your booty hole and then ask you to clean it for them afterward.

^^^ Agreed. If they came to me with a contract I'd walk, probably.
