That's still $47M/yr without getting back to the AFC championship ever again.

Especially after they have to cut every player not named "Patrick Mahomes" to pay the one that is

I know I've said this several times but this has to be the deal that breaks the teams of making these deals right?

Right?

Truth.

There are only two QBs in the league right now that have won multiple SBs - Brady and Rapistburger.

There are likely another 50-100M in bonuses, roster bonuses, stat bonuses, etc. Once this comes out he's going to be getting somewhere around 30-35M and lots of potential to up that. Good for him. Likely not good for the team overall.

I watched Manning and Brady slug it out for almost 14 years. It is doable but a lot of stuff has to align in your favor. All the times Indy went 12-14 wins in a season and didn't make it out of the AFC playoffs....ugh. I had to look it up from 2003-2010 they had 12+ wins 7 out of 9 seasons. They made it to the bowl 2x (1W, 1L).

DeSean Jackson is an idiot, I know this isn't exactly breaking news but this one is a doozy:

Jackson posted a (debunked) quote from Hitler on Instagram saying that black people would need to start WWIII to keep the white jews from dominating them.

When the **** hit the fan, he followed that up with an "apology"

Quote:
Anyone who feels I have hate towards the jewish community took my post the wrong way. I have no hatred in my heart towards no one. Equality!!
... then preceeded to repost the quote yet again with everything scribbled out save for the part about white jews dominating blacks.

I mean seriously folks, what are we doing here if the snowflakes can take a fake quote from Hitler about killing jews out of context?...

Manning probably would have had another ring if it weren't for the Pats dynasty conveniently ascending at the time that they did. But I think Manning is also a good example of how damn hard it is to win a super bowl. There's no debate that he's one of the best QBs of all time, but he only had one ring all the way up until the twilight of his career, and even his ring with Denver was won in large part by their defense, not his wet noodle of an arm that year. That defense was so elite that you could plug in just about any halfway decent QB and the result would have been the same.

Brady and Belichick have forever ruined what it means to be successful. Having one championship is something to be treasured and an enormous feat, but because of New England's success over the past decade and a half, all of a sudden your career is "wasted" if you don't win more than one.

It's not unlike the mentality that got Sosa Bonds and Magwire (etc) an asterisk.

As time goes on the word Desperate will creep in, to describe the Patriot's "dynasty".

What an awful sports word meant to supply imaginary ego's arguments.

I'd much rather be proud of more real things, than a sports trophy but, most people just like participating, I guess.

Guess the negotiations aren't as amicable as they could be.

Such a shame how the sport and teams burn through players and their roles.

Football has been moneyball for a while though.

I think it's S. Half a billion to play stick and ball? Really? I think the owners and the players should all take a pay cut so the seats for families are affordable. Of course that will never happen. I just think it's out of control. You couldn't pay me to go to a game and sit in traffic but the real fans, and working people can't even afford to go and get some kind of decent seat.

A little indifferent about this one.

He signed a deal last year, and it was basically a special teams deal but also happened to be the 18th highest-paid back in the NFL.

I can see his argument that he would like to get something on par with TeCo, but no team outside of the Niners is going to pay him much more than what he's getting.

You could also argue that he wouldn't be as productive with any other team just because of Kyle's ability to turn UDFAs into studs.

Apparently the professional football team soon to be formally known as the Redskins is planning to have no Native American imagery associated with it.

Soon to be?

They've been "the artist formerly known as the Redskins" since May of 1999

Interesting move - now they'll be criticized for not turning it into some honorable Native American moniker.

Maybe they're worried they'd cause more outrage by picking something that didn't please everyone.

Maybe stay with the Prince theme and just go with a symbol?

The NFL sent out a memo to all the franchises and their corporate partners telling them to scrub the Redskins name in preparation for an announced change.

Honestly, who gives a **** what this franchise is called by this time tomorrow, it will still be a dumpster fire that Dan Snyder is attempting to put out with gasoline

Hey now, they've been waiting how many years to get this much attention over this much of the off season?

Not just for losing players and bungling deals?
