Default for the sake of man, and mans best friend. please help

http://www.komonews.com/news/47835832.html

NORTH BEND, Wash. -- Investigators are asking for the public's help locating whoever is responsible for shooting a dog and leaving the paralyzed animal to die off a forest service road east of here.

The 4-year-old Rottweiler was found alive, but was fully paralyzed and had to be euthanized.

People in the area spotted the dog May 31 about 1.8 miles down a service road off Exit 38 from Interstate 90.

The animal was wearing a pinch collar and was tied to a log about 20 feet down an embankment near what officials described as a "popular unofficial recreational shooting area." Several shell casings were found near the dog.

Animal control officers took the animal to a vet where the dog underwent surgery and needed continuous care for four days before being euthanized.

King County Animal Care and Control Interim Manager Nancy McKenney said a necropsy performed last week showed that the dog had been shot several times.

"This is a horrendous and intentional case of animal abuse," McKenney said.

A $12,500 reward is being offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is asked to call 206-296-3939.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My story:
We were going up to the mountains for an A-team day of shooting. We stopped where we had stopped the weekend before against a rocky hillside that previous people set up for target practice prior to the location where the national forest designates you to shoot. my friend Z gets out of the rig to take a leak off the side of an embankment and realizes something big is moving in the bushes. he freaks out and yells for all of us to come to him and look down the hillside as we discover what looks like a lonesome exhausted dog just trying to catch some shade. as we tried calling the dog to get up and come to us i realized something is wrong with his right front shoulder and what looked to be the spread from a shotgun as the dogs fur was nappy and red.
of course we were all worried that this dog may have been put down for a reason seeing how it is a big rott, but i decided to climb down the embankment to get this poor guy some water. regardless if this dog may have been vicious or not, it was still suffering and left to die out there in the woods. as i was climbing down the hill my buddy spotted a nylon rope attached to a tree branch about 12ft long and as i got to the dog i spotted that a choker type collar was attached on the other end.. somehow this dog got the choker collar off and was now not moving and very weak as it laid on a flat spot before another 5 foot drop. we got him plenty of water but he just kept drinking it and probably consumed over 50oz in less than an hour easy.
fellow hikers/shooters ended up stopping to help and one guy gave us a tarp to drag the dog up the hill.
took about 30 minutes to get all that done and ready as it was mid 80 degree weather and muggy on the hillside.
the dog iirc weighed in at 130lbs and it took 4 of us to climb almost vertically with loose brush to get the dog up.
by the time this was done animal control had already gotten on the scene as we had gotten on the phone (thank god for google earth mobile) and gotten exact coordinates of our location prior to me going down to the dog.
i'm telling you this story because i saw the fear and the compassion at the same time through the eyes of this dog. never once did it bark, snarl, or complain while i was down there with him. he was my buddy for sure.
we made new friends and saved a life that day but it was unfortunate and depressing because a week later i found out the dog was put down due to it being paralyzed from the bullets.
the vet took as many out as they could but had to leave some rounds in the poor guy because they were too close to vital organs and arteries :/

there is a total reward of upwards to $12,000 for the conviction of whoever did this and i hope someone takes a very sweet vacation while the person who did this to this dog gets BF'd in jail.

we all wished that we could have seen him fully recover and play with him after all of this but god had his own plans for our friend. nonetheless, we all left feeling like it was us that that dog was calling out for, like it was divined intervention, and had we not stopped, that dog most certainly would have passed away.

anyways, long story. here's pix we took during the process...

me just getting to the dog to check the condition.

that is efed up, i grew up some in montana, and i know how sometimes when your dog is old and headed down the painful trail of death, a reasonable option is to take him out somewhere and put him down, but this, this is cruel, no burial, no compassion, who knows if the dog was even sick beforehand, sounds like some ****ed up people to me.

Wow, it's the worst fealing in the world seeing something suffer. I hope they catch the f***** low life that did this and make them go through hell.

Way to be a hero though, dude. Wish things would have been better in the end.

Sometimes there are coinsidences in our lives that seem to be just to perfect to be merely a "coinsidence."

really??? anything along the lines of a blue or blue-ish colored pick up??? i know it was memorial weekend prior to that so maybe campers??
that was one of the other "leads" we had after animal control had asked people near the bottom. saying something like blue blue-ish pickup went up with a dog but came back down without one, or didn't notice the dog the 2nd time around.
there are reward posters up everywhere in the area it had happened at.

this was off of exit 38 on i-90.
12 thousand dollars, people!
there is a number to call if you have any more information for this in the OP.

the sheer lack of compassion some individuals have... I HATE hearing about these sort of things. may someone who knows of this person who did this shed the light on him. this guy deserves solitary confinement then one day shot with his shotgun and left to suffer.

Don't remember a truck but an old Cadillac was the car that the guys had all their stuff in. We left before they started putting the dogs away.

cadillac... suv or granny showboat type car?
i saw a mazda/datsun style pickup lowered on airbags or something at the bottom of the mountain on cadillac escalade wheels?

but of course we're talking a whole 7 days difference in time.
but if you can recall anything of what you saw, please just give the county a call... :/

btw, the rope attached to this long branch type log was braided yellow nylon and the dogs collar was stainless/chrome

Car, older late 90s, maybe early 2000s.

Was the log it attached to something it could drag? These guys had logs that probably weighed 30-40lbs that they were dragging. Or was this a big log it was attached to?

I just don't get it. Why not just take the dog to the pound if you can't take care of it (assuming that is cause).

If the person or people involved were doing that just for fun, that is a sign of a serial killer who has zero respect for anything living.

tree branch/log. the rope was NOT snagged on this branch. it was tied down to it.

the yellow nylon rope that had been attached to it

the dog was tucked away in the shadows.
