Default Subaru impreza to a wrx swap. Opinions.

My 1996 Subaru Impreza 2.2L has 283,000 miles on it. My question is do any of you guys think it would be worth it to put a 2002 wrx engine and transmission into my car? I think it would be cool, and a lot cheaper than me buying a new car. And if I do the swap should I replace things like my drivetrain as well as the engine, transmission, and other supporting mods?

If the body is 100% rust free then you could consider it. If not rust free I wouldn't dream of using that as a shell, and yes probably a whole drive train swap would make the most sense in my opinion.

Thanks for replying, my car shell has a little bit of rust. But the rust is mainly on certain panels of the car. I am probably just going to try to get a new car. Thanks again.

Awesome project. Had a 95 before I upgraded. If your going to make it happen, suggest new everything. That's a lot of power and not much weight.

If I were to actually replace all the things that would need to be replaced, how much money might that cost?
