Default New here.

Hey guys I am new to the forums. Also new to Subies, never owned one before, but have always liked the imprezas. A little about my situation. I currently have a Jeep wrangler. I love it, but its a real piece. The previous owners beat it hard but never took time to keep it maintained. I in my excitement to get a Jeep didn't check it out as well as I really should have. Plus I didn't do research first as to what to look for. Anyways it need alot of work to get it in the proper condition, and I already dropped alot of green on it. I figured I may have to sell it. Well my GF and I ended up finding a really nice apartment with a 2 car garage in our price range. So I figured I could park the Jeep in the garage, buy a cheap car and rebuild the Jeep but with upgrades. Well my other half said no, not gonna happen. So I figured I would buy something I like. I wanted a camaro/firebird. Not really looking for a hotrod/fast ride or anything. I have owned a camaro in the past and really enjoyed the car. I love t-tops, and cruising in a camaro on a nice day rocks. Anyways now to the point. I was told no on the camaro because its not "practical". So I figured ok, practical huh. Then a subaru came to mind. A nice little impreza, maybe a 4-door with AWD, espeically with the snow we get up here. I figure sure that will seem like a nice practical car. Then when she is not looking I throw in the upgrades and have a nice little sporty ride. Plus I have friends that are in the SCCA and race in their free time. I have always been interested in racing for fun, so maybe this is the time to start. I never had the oportunity or money to even think about doing this. Now with things in my life shaping up I think I might give it a shot.

So yeah I probably just told you all more then you care to know. I am interested in a 98-00 imprezza. I really like the look of those imprezzas and they are in my buget range. I really can't afford to spend more then 10k on the car. Not if I want to be able to fix it up. Plus spending money on a car to build it up is done when you have the extra money, but once you buy a car you have to continue paying for it. So I am looking for a budget builder. Something I can get cheap and save up and build as I get the cash. So here I am on this board, basically lurking and reading and getting ideas. Whatever you guys can tell me about the Mk I impreza, plus what to look for when buying one. I am really interested in a 2.5 RS model. I would love a 2 door but may have to opt for the 4-door to apease the gods that be. Thanks and I look forward to being apart of this forum.
