Default A/V People...I want to hook my ipod up to my A/V Receiver...What do I need?

I have finally ripped my entire music collection onto my new 80GB Classic.

I want to hook the ipod up to the receiver. HOWEVER I want to be able to control the ipod with a remote and see the menus on the TV so I can sit back with the remote and change albums without getting up and going over to the ipod to look at that little tiny screen all the time to change songs/artists/albums. I have ADHD big time and change songs all the time.

Help me, OT. You're my only hope. What device does this?

Apple TV?

Myself, I use the dock and some RCA cables, save myself the cash.

Well, it is a device designed to hook up to the TV, interact with the remote, and your iTunes ..... and you didn't specify a budget

I wonder, though, if you hook up the SVideo connection on the dock if it will put the menu out to the screen ....... then use the apple remote. I have a video ipod and have not tried that route .... maybe it would work

My fear is that it only powers this up when you play a video, not otherwise. Because the "otherwise" would be very cool, and do what you wanted. From further close reading, it looks like this is definitely the case, but it won't stop me from trying since I do have those cables hanging around the house.

What kind of reciever do you have? Most companies offer an iPod dock that will connect (assuming you bought the reciever within the past 3-5 years).

O RLY?

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-DS-A2X-R.../dp/B000SQMD38

Might have to search around a bit to see if it works with your receiver.

Edit: If the 805 is the one Im thinking of, you should be golden.

Wow I didn't even know Onkyo had that. Off to Amazon I go...thanks.

Anyone know what the difference is between the DS-A2 and the DS-A2X?

The A2 is the older model. Other than that, I dont think there is a difference.
