But it is important to also note the fact that the Audi mainly excelled on tight curvy tracks and tracks where traction was low due to bad asphalt, rain, or high heat. The Audi team would win impressive 1-2 finishes by large margins under those conditions, but on several occasions the Audis would get brutally raped by the RWD American competitors.

What does this have to do with anything? It helps illustrate what happens when AWD is introduced into various on road racing series. Audi also was the first to introduce this technology into the rally racing championships. They consistently lost out to RWD cars like the Lancia Stratos or Porsches on the tarmac stages, but excelled under low traction. If traction is good RWD is superior due to lighter weight, less drivetrain drag, and the fact that it has a tendency to oversteer. AWD is great for assisting a driver maintain control and drive on low traction surfaces, but an AWD system is always plagued by the natural tendency to understeer which is something you don't want in a Formula 1 car that can pull 6 G-forces in a tight turn.

You also have to remember the technological changes that are around now as compared to what they had then...we have nice electronic and 'smarter' mechanical components now

So the Audi 90 comparison is slightly outdated...now back to the engine discussion. I say for the goal, the two are very close in requirements for getting there and sustaining it. Be it I have played in depth with both platforms. The 4G63 isn't some mysteriously bullet proof engine. Like all engines being pushed, it comes down to having the right techniques/formula to making them live. That and being extremely anal upon machining and assembly

Now choose which car you'd rather have.

My $.02,
Micah

I bet I Rally X more in a season than you do in the life of your car
I know all about dirt and snow.
Maybe you can come out and help me crew on the Subaru Canada Open Class STI at Targa Newfoundland this year

F1 cars average about 3.5g in heavy cornering and MAX out at around 5gs during heavy breaking... where the **** did you get 9gs from.

Could have sworn I heard that number during one of the commentaries on a race. They said they can pull more Gs in a turn than a fighter jet and used that as justification for saying it is "a young mans sport".

Still not bad considering a F-15 pulls up to 9 Gs in a turn.

I'm absolutely positive an F-15 can sustain more than 9 Gee in a turn, but the little guy in the cockpit can't.

Oh look, Ron is still butthurt because he got owned last night, because YET AGAIN, he was talking out of his ass.

Thankfully, most of his posts were quoted for posterity, so start reading around #3010.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...433874&page=61

Edit: Oh wow, talk about butthurt, Ron edited all his posts. Too bad they were quoted.

One day Ron, youll figure it out, but until then, the rest of us will point and laugh at you and Juan in the retard corner.

Yeah, and then you got butthurt when you were proven wrong, AGAIN. So butthurt that you had to go out of your way to edit those posts and insult me.

Good show Ron, way to really showcase that fantastic reading comprehension and mental deficiency you suffer from.

Remember kids, if you cant win the argument with facts, insult, call names, divert and threaten to ignore.
