Anyone see Steve-O on Adam Corolla's show last night?
He was drunk as hell, you could tell Corolla wanted to kick him in the throat. You can watch the vid from foundrymusic.com The site itself is very NWS, but the video is fine.

Watched it for less than a minute when flipping through channels. That guy (Steve-O, not Corolla) gives me hives.

SteveO is quickly getting himself banned from just about all forms of media. He got fired for jerking off all over his boss' desk and then the Wildboyz idea was his only saving grace. After that is over, I'd be surprised if anyone will take his uncontrollable ass.

When he's sober, he's a dumbass, but he's a funny dumbass. (Hence the reason he makes money). However obviously when he's had a few he's an annoying dumbass.

Also remember that there have been a lot of staged things like this on talk shows that you'd swear had to be real. Like the fight between Jerry Lawler and Andy Kaufman on Letterman's show. I think even Letterman was faked out on that one.

I like his sense of humor - he's a funny guy and he's great at the Roasts and when he's just ranting off the top of his head. Something about the new show just falls flat though. I think it's because you can't hear any audience reaction (if they are laughing), so it gives the impression that every joke falls on its face. He also has the classic standup comedy habit of delivering the punchline and pausing for the laughter/applause to subside. When you can't hear any laughter, though, it makes it seem like he just bombed. It's an odd disconnect that I wasn't aware of before watching the show.
Norm MacDonald had a similar delivery IMO, and it takes audience interaction to "sell" it on television. |
