Default 02 WRX 4EAT rear LSD swapped into a 02 Impreza OS 4EAT?

Same gear ratios from what I've read, but is there a DIFFerence in the housing?

I have searched Nasioc, but nothing came up.

Different trans completely.

Turbo 4eat's use different internals and valvebodies.

Also the WRX 4eat has the variable center diff the the obs doesn't.

You need to find a non-turbo trans

Hmmm, I don't think I'm explaining myself clearly.

I have an 02 Impreza Outback Sport (4EAT). The rear diff is bad. Will the rear LSD from an 02 WRX (4EAT) bolt directly in, or will I need to modify anything?

I don't want to swap the transmission, just the rear diff.

I don't have much knowledge of newer Subarus, I'm used to working on beat GL junkbuckets.

Oops, the rear diff will bolt in but you will need a set of LSD axles

Crap. Different spline count? I'm guessing maybe I should just buy a complete rear end - diff/axles/hubs/disc brakes. It would be nice to have rear discs...

Different stub into the diff, the rear conversion would be a good idea.

Can anyone confirm that 02 WRX wagon rear axles are different from 02 WRX sedan rear axles? Part numbers and/or photos would be helpful.

Confirmed. The WRX wagon axles are 1cm narrower than the sedan axles.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Now I can stop asking questions and start working on getting my car back on the road.
