Default So when did product unboxings become so popular on youtube?

Seems like no matter what I am looking for a video of, there is a product unboxing of it. Usually of some overweight dude with sausage fingers unboxing something and either talking so quietly you can't hear him or breathing so heavily you can't hear him.

If your going to unbox stuff, have some hot naked chic unbox it for you. THAT'S what I would want to see.

After watching a few Noah @ Phonedog unboxings I've come to the conclusion that gadgetphiles masturbate to them... The sound of a plastic film being peeled from a new smartphone screen is essentially the gaping anus of the gadgetphile pr0n world.

Serious reply:

A lot of new tech products have horrible "bullshots" that don't give you any sort of size/scale/material references. When you see someone unboxing a product, you immediately can relate to it as if it were your own hands doing it and you can get a much better idea of the overall "sense" of the product.

Skewed cell-phone pics with blurry backgrounds don't tell me anything. Pictures from the marketing department are NEVER 100% honest.

With unboxing, you get the real deal.

My $.02

The girls on the shoe forum do the same thing with their new purchases via photos. They call them reveals. Like this:

OMG a box!!

With something in it!! Another box HOLY **** ANOTHER BOX!!!11

What's in the box?? TELL ME TELL ME!!

Now, a 15 min pause while the other girls flip the **** out and try to guess!

And finally, the teaser photo....

Girls react: OHHH, so pretty!

More pics...

Girls shouting MODELING PICS NOW!!!

Girls respond "THEY look sooo pretty on you. Love them!!" while secretly judging your choice furniture in the background, wall colour, flooring choices.

So, yeah, welcome to the shoe forum reveal thread.

Better still are PC hardware sites that go into stupid levels of detail. I read one for a PC case that started "the box shows a picture of the product, angled slightly...". Who gives a f?

Can anyone pull her info from the shipping label.

SB, you mean thing like: Nice nail polish. You know nails grow, right? Or do you have 3mm cuticles?

Sharkbait, I'll say the same thing to you that I say to my wife when she orders fancy expensive shoes from some designer in Paris....

"How are those any different from regular black high heels at the mall?"
