It's not in the area but octagon spares has had a red 98 RS on their "lot" for a number of months now. Give'em a call and see what's up about it. www.octagonauto.com I knew the exact price and mileage at one point, but I can't recall it right now. I do remember that neither seemed "bad" (30k mileage seems to ring a bell, price, I heard, was 12's?). There is also a black 00 or 01 for sale at a small Subaru dealership in York (can't recall name), but the price was in the 17's. No idea of the mileage on that one.

Hope that was worth the read.

Planning for the ineveitable, eh? They have lots of engines, including many from WRX's. Not sure how many 98's they would have. I've not seen many broken ones on the lot. I'm quite sure they wouldn't sell the engine out of the one they have for sale.

Because the weak ol' 2.0L makes as much power as yours does currently, but it does it in it's stock form without being stressed to the point of potential failure, every time to accelerate. Making more power is only good if the car stays together, and is not full of quirkyness. Now if your getting a 2.5L to properly build for boost, that's different.

or I can find an old L, rip out the block, and slap on heads from a 2.5RS then there is the issue of engine management....

two words: Stand Alone

TEC-II, Haltech, Link, etc...once you really start to mess with the engine it's the only way to go to know for sure.
