Newbie here. Just got my '13 Impreza CVT Sport Premium in DGM. So stoked. Haven't noticed any squeak issues yet or any other annoyances.

Can't wait to take her up to Tahoe.

The wiper motor for rear windows annoys me a little but turning up the radio solves that issue. Also you can fit a dead body easier in a hatchback lol

That's because the 2013 aren't out yet..lol

Well now they are but it's just the beginning of 2013, you'll see more issues when 2014 comes.

(No, not trying to pull a pissing contest, I'm just saying that they were out quite "early on" already... at least accessible by the dealers, if you didn't want any custom stuff. Those who ordered - well, that's a whole different kettle of fish.)

Oddly enough, after you quoted me, my car started to revert to its original habits. You jinxed me! (Just kidding )

I fixed it again by the paddle system. It has a tendency to come back when (or more accurately, after) I'm dealing with high-traffic stop-and-go scenarios. It seems to be a "learned" trait that can be "un-learned".

Default 13 impreza

I have a 2013 Impreza that I bought March 5th. I do roadside assistance so I drive my cars hard. Before this I had a 2009 Legacy sedan 5 spd 2.5i special edition. It was a fun car to drive. Over the 4 years of ownership I put 134000 on it if that gives you a view of how much I drive. My impreza already has close to 7000 miles on it after only a month. I'm having no problems with a squeeky seat, I've gone through 2 qts of oil (oil change is at 7500 but u prob kno that). My mpg's suck though (about 22 avg, but i drive fast in Philadelphia), and I've seen 40 on a highway trip at 65. but when your going 80, because of the engine braking you can only get about 26-28 because it doesn't cruise. That'd be my only complaint. I have a limited version so I have the leather and bluetooth and all that. The leather is cracking a little bit, and my trunk isn't shutting all the time (hatchback), and on occasion the passenger dinging noise comes on when nothing is on the passenger seat. In my opinion it's a great car, but the build quality long term is going to be lacking a bit I can already tell. Sorry for this being so lengthy I just figured I'd give you guys my 2 cents on what to expect over long term use. I open my trunk 30-40 times a day, drive about 300 miles a day, maybe 250. I sit in the seat all day, so yea.

thats not fast. you're not an excessive speeder until A) you're driving down the highway, look at your speedo, and say "well wont you look at that, im doing 100" or B) (mine) you do 85 in a thirty five. i did that in my 2012 hatch last september about 3 months after i bought it. i did 85 in a 35. past a church

Nothing nothing is on the seat? Or nothing significant? The passenger detector is capacitive, not by weight. Your cell phone's touch screen will set it off.

I only have 800 miles on my 2013 but I have yet to experience any of the common issues brought up here. Still have good gas mileage, no oil consumption, no squeeks or rattles. Everything feels solid.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

um if you are beating the **** out of the car why would you think you could get away with 7.5k oil change as for oil consumption um you do know when you drive a car hard its gonna chug oil right. Assuming your engine properly broke in any car you drive the piss out of is gonna burn fluid especially at high speeds it keeps the engine cool and burns off thats its job. You can't floor the **** out of a car and expect high mpg unless your name is stevehmn. For seat squeak see dealership, for trunk latch see dealership. you are trolling hard today bro

If you're happy with 22 mpg that's all that matter. Although keep driving that way ( 85 in a 35 zone) and you won't have drivers license for long.

I am jealous. I hear a symphony of rattles if I turn down the radio. But for a commuter car Im not about to rip apart panels to add insulation. Ill live with it.

I have 13 Sport 5mt, mileage is pretty good I get 35+ on highway (60~65Mph, mostly flat, not much hills), only problem is that road noise is too loud but I can live with it.

His post doesn't seem at all trollish. He bought a car, and gave his opinion.

Um no, when you're going 80 you're exponentially increasing air resistance. It's about 20% less efficient going 80 vs 65. Engine braking has nothing to do with it

I have a 2013 Impreza 5 door 2.0l with a little over 3,000 miles on it. So far I haven't had any issues and I'm getting right at 30 MPG with a 50/50 split. The one thing I didn't like right away was the factory head unit which I quickly replaced. The charcoal gray color really pops after a wash and wax!

79letour, if you beat the **** out of ANY CAR it will eat oil and will die even quicker its only a matter of time as to what is gonna fail. I dare you to say that he is not subjecting this car to severe service. He admits in his post flogging the snot out of the car and expecting high mpg. He has a 2013 there aren't many 2013 with oil consumption even more so cvt, most oil burners have been 2012 5 speeds either way he is beating the **** out of the car complaining about mpg, oil usage and ..... trolling trolling trolling

That's ironic, I actually think the opposite. I think the previous generation of Imprezas were ugly as hell. I don't know if the 2007 had the last body style or if that was another gen before the last? But I think the 2012+ models are a huge improvement over the last gen in terms of exterior looks, especially the front end.

Not to me. I really don't like the look of the hatchbacks, which is largely why I went with the sedan. I can get a surprising amount of stuff in a sedan anyway, and I kind of like having a big storage area that isn't open to view (trunk).

I've had mine just over a month now. I have about 2300 miles on it. So far no big issues. I did have a vibration or something in the dash somewhere to the left of the steering wheel. It was annoying. But I never did figure out where exactly it was coming from, and I haven't heard it in a few weeks now.

I know the first few times I checked the oil it seemed good to go. I checked it tonight and it was a little below the midpoint between the low and full lines, but the car was parked on a slant. I don't know if it was enough to cause that, or if it has burned a bit.

No, it's a completely different gen. The 2007 and 2008 are gone. The 2009 if I am correct on memory alone changed everything about the looks of the car. I'd say my favorite years are 2002-2008 looks-wise of the WRX.....but the 2006/2007 base model actually still looked sporty. This was before the fall of the economy....so the base we got still had CD/Radio, mud mats, truck mat, no money down, and the big deal for me, was no hubcaps. For under 18k we got 16 inch rims. The guy selling it to us said oh...Subaru doesn't sell cars with hubcaps now. Next gens did....lol. Economy tanked right before that. I don't know if that statement was even true, but I never saw a 2007 with hubcaps, they all had rims.

But anyhow...the base Impreza has turned into a soccer mom car, or snow vehicle in my mind. In my mind at one point I really looked at it as a sports car, because of the WRX....but since they have split up the base and WRX/STi models so drastically...something I feared they would do one day.....I don't think of the Impreza the same way at all anymore, shame for me I guess.... but oh well.
