God dammit, now I can't find my G-Shock.

Also, all those homage watches are made in the same factories as the reps, so you're still supporting the same people.

Fakes and Homages will always exist, if he really wants that style, I think it's preferable to get an Homage instead of a Fake. I don't really understand the point of a fake unless you are trying to pass it off as real in certain situations. I "get" homages. Certain people love the style of certain watches and cannot find an equivalent Seiko, Android, Hammy, etc... and he or she will never be able to afford the authentic. I don't really see a difference between a man wearing a look-a-like rolex compared to a woman copying Victoria Beckham's haircut and style. I do see an issue with a woman wearing a copy of her face or something of the sort.

Best - Get the real deal.
Better - Get a quality Seiko or other brand for the same price an homage would cost.
Worse - Get an homage.
Worst - Get a fake.

Disclaimer: I have a PAM homage. I wish I spend the money on a Maratac Auto Pilot instead. I also have a genuine Omega Planet Ocean, and homages don't really bother me too much. I've come to appreciate the movement and quality more than the style.

Any recommended sites for vintage watches? No fakes, authentic watches.

Yeah I know about the WUS forums, been a member on there for years. They usually have a few vintage watches in the for sale section. Looking for more sites that specifically sell vintage watches no matter the condition.

go to estate sales for vintage watches. my personal thoughts are that there are too many people hunting for vintage watches these days. the only way to get a good deal is to bid on a vintage watch on ebay with poor photos and hope you get a authentic in good condition. any auctions with good pictures and documentation usually gets bid up pretty quickly.

Just picked this up for $85 shipped. Not a baller like some of the folks in this thread but I needed a classic looking, reliable watch for work and this one grabbed my attention.

Thanks - I like the eco-drives, and for the money, I couldn't say no. I didn't want one of the manhole covers that a lot of people are wearing now either, so I think this should do the job.

Yeah I'm trying to avoid eBay because of the fakes. Thanks for the advice.

Had a chance to get a authentic vintage Omega Seamaster for a great deal awhile ago but stupidly passed on it.

Here's a real Milgauss.

My favorite watch out of all that I currently own (the IWC Pilot chrono, IWC Aquatimer 2000 Ti, Rolex GMT II, Mont Blanc Summit- all posted previously, I think). It's heavy (due to the soft iron cage), but wears VERY comfortably on the wrist. Also the most accurate: currently running < -1 sec/day average.

Compared to the GMT II

If the guy is in consulting &/or sales I'll bet he meant that it's a tool of the trade, like a really nice suit or a luxury car.

I wonder how many of you vehemently against fake watches would have no problem buying Rota Wheels or Agency Power or NRG or etc. etc. parts for their car.

That is what he meant. It is all part of the package. He works for a firm that does consulting, and puts on high dollar presentations

Navitimers are great. Getting it serviced might be $$$ though. My Breitling isn't a chrono and it will probably be at least $400 to get it done.

Honestly, I have no damn idea. I got them for free, and I am pretty sure they're fake. They're heavy heavy wheels
