It would be a good idea. Maverick and the Santa Fe are popular. The 1st post is an awesome rendering. Very aggressive, with styling similar to the old Forester Viziv Future Concept.

would be the most popular in Australia, not the US. So then they'd build it in Japan and never import it to the US because of the chicken tax.

I know the first photo is a fake rendering because it doesn't have nearly as much unpainted black plastic cladding as subaru would actually do.

I dunno, the US seems to love FWD platform small trucks these days. My buddy who works for Subaru (not a dealership) says they need one of these.

If you want a Baja, the Santa Cruz already exists with a better engine and transmission than what Subaru would offer. Probably more accommodating interior dimensions too.
I don't know why you'd buy a new Baja except for a Subaru badge. And why would anyone do that? |

If Subaru did resurrect the Baja, surely the base model that includes AWD would be cheaper than the AWD versions of the other small trucks currently offered, right? The issue would be fuel mileage, and that's the sole reason Subaru shouldn't even touch the segment until their base model can compete in that department.

I'm hoping this is just a bad joke. The ST-X was the only Subaru designed by SOA(of course that's off since it's off a SBR designed Outback). Never officially sold off North American/US soil. Sooo many people constantly telling SOA to bring it back. Quote:
Most of the ones I've talked to would love to see a return. Seems SBR is too afraid to try again. The only vehicle they've done that with is the Ascent. Wish they'd learn from that success that they could do it. Quote:
ABSOLUTELY NOT! We got one in trade and I climbed in and out of it. I've loved the look of it since it came out(minus headlight positioning at night). Inside is HORRIBLY small(my old, small chassis, '05 Baja has more interior room) and visibility sucks. Soo uncomfortable, I lost interest in even driving it. Minus that, it had some cool stuff. Sad really, how bad that other(more important) stuff was. |

unibody pickups thrive in other parts of the world. when they come here they usually fail or sell in really small numbers. The Santa Cruz is already being discounted. The mavrick works because it's more pickup-ish and they've got the hybrid. Toyota wont even bring us the hilux. VW backed out of bringing a unibody pickup here. A modern baja would fail. A few people telling dealers that they'd buy one is anecdotal and you know it. |

Why would it fail? Outside SBR messing up a good concept again? They did an amazing job addressing ALL of the issues with the Tribeca on the Ascent. All they'd need to do is approach the Baja with the same focus. But, base it off the Ascent to rival the Ridgeline(waiting for THAT response) instead of the Outback. |

Likely too late to the game at this point. Over by me I have seen a heck of a lot of the Santa Cruz.
