As much as I want to see this thread stay on subject I have to chime in and say if you had to buy an sti with parents/some other forum of money other than hard earned money then you dont deserve to own one. Age is irrelevant when it comes to what car you should own. Thats just statistics. If u can pay for it yourself then should be able to own whatever you want whenever you want.

Ok point is, I'm young and responsible enough not to have wrecked. This means I have some form of integrity. My car is limited by the speed limits (hopefully everyone here's is) so I could theoretically screw up in any car if I wanted to. Now let's get back on topic...

Of course not. There is not a sixteen year old in the world who would not accept a cool car from there dad.
Some people have to earn things. Others have them fall into their lap. It's life and he has to get over it. |

You dont have to bypass the switch but you have to do something to get it to register the shorter clutch travel. This requires either adding something onto the switch or actually moving the switch out a little bit for it to register.
And on a side note im 16 also and my parents trust me with a WRX |

Like i said, you can't see it now, no teenager can. You will look back and see all the dumb situations you get yourself into and realize you were not as safe as you think you are. My parents trusted me too. My dad let me take his lotus out at 18 on drives with other high end cars. But they still recognized that a fast car is not a good choice for a first car. I was annoyed about it back then, but i'm glad they made that decision now. And regarding the superior comment, yea, i'm sure you're the perfect angel you're portraying yourself as. |

Case 1: Saab 92x is the EXACT same car in almost everyway but differs by a saab badge. AKA older people like them. Despite it's turbo and being the exact same car as a WRX it's 210% less likely to get in an accident than a WRX. Or 10% less likely then the average vehicle. The average age of someone driving a saab 92x is significantly higher than a WRX. My insurance quote for a saab 92x was 1/4 of the WRX Case 2: STi vs Legacy GT. STi is every ricers wet dream. Legacy GT is not. Legacy GT is a sleeper in my book, it looks like a regular sedan. A simple tune and it's EJ257 has 300whp. Despite it's ridiculous amount of power and WORSE handling, when compared to a STi, it's insurance is less. See where im going? Im sure you can guess the average age of the drivers... Age has everything to do with it. Now im not saying you crashed your car yet, but you will, and so will all the other young punks. It makes me want to pull my hair out. It's like learning how to drive a motorcycle for the first time on a hayabusa. A miata is a good way to learn how to drive, low hp vehicles will teach you much more. Ask your dad to trade in your car for a BRZ if you still want to be spoiled. Source: Insurance Bureau of Canada. |

Leave the kid alone and act like an adult. Its possible to get into an accident or speed in ANY car. You sound a little jealous to be honest. If the kid has an sti; who cares? Darn Communists. |
