Post What's the difference between turbo and a supercharge?

I just wanna know what's the difference between the supercharge and a turbo. I know most of the info about the turbo and I dont know jack about superchargers. Well, what I wanna know is which one is better? do the supercharger need a intercooler? etc, etc, etc.

Thanks

Both units do basically the same thing: compress the intake air before it enters the cylinders so that there's more oxygen.

Superchargers run their compressor off the crankshaft of the engine, just like the A/C compressor or power steering pump.

Turbos run their compressor off of engine exhaust gas which spins a turbine which spins the compressor.

Superchargers normally give less lag at low rpm ranges than turbos, but may put more wear on your engine and usually don't give as much of a performance gain at the peak. Turbos lag because the exhaust gases have to spin the turbine up to speed before their compression really takes effect.

This has been a really rambly answer, but I hope it helped. I also don't claim that all of this info is 100% correct, but it's the way I've learned it.

From what I gather, there are much more reliable turbo set up's for this car at the moment than Superchargers.
