The only one I have seen installed was up underneath cyl #2 IIRC but it was tapped to go there. The piston that seems to go kablooey is #3 (I think it is due to the heat from the headers and a turbo going there). Hope that helps.

The drivers side motor mount bolt is a good place, threads are the same as the sensor adapter and it`s easy to get to. Replace the bolt with the adapter, tighten it good, then install the sensor and snug it down lightly.
Another way is to move the stock sensor to the bell housing and install the J&S in the stock position. This makes the J&S more sensitive than the stock sensor but involves drilling and rethreading for the J&S. The J&S is the best mod I`ve put on my Impy. Really brings out the potential of the turbo! Suby2nr.... Ya, how cool. Anyways, senior Ed is absolutly right. putting the stock knock sensor on the bell housing and locating the J&s in the stock location worked out wonderfuly. I can't live without my J&s. What a great piece.
