Trading 2013 WRX Hatch for 2013 Genesis Coupe
Well after six great months of owning the 2013 WRX hatch iv decided im going to trade it in. Iv wanted a Hyundai Genesis Coupe for a while and the dealership finally got one in that I cant refuse.
some features that helped me make my decision: 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T R spec: -275hp RWD -19x8 front and 19x8.5 rear -front and rear Brembos -boost, oil temp gauges -red leather/fabric seats -ALL black interior (INCLUDING ROOF unlike my WRX) Im not taking a loss on the trade and my payments will remain pretty much the same. Id like to hear some other opinions...

I could understand this if you were going to a V6 RSpec or Track, but to the 2.0t? Hell naww.
You just sound like someone who will never be happy with what he has, considering how long you've had that Scoob. |

My friend just bought the genesis coupe 3.8 track and his car is nicer than my car any which way you look at it. Except he has a hyundai. I would never buy a hyundai.

The genesis is a pretty nice car but as stated it is a hyundai and you lose in the long run.The WRX holds its value very well so when the time comes to sell or trade you are really going to feel the hurt..

Nothing wrong with Hyundai's. I used to drive a tiburon v6 modded with headers, intake, exhaust and a couple of other small mod's. They have come a long way since the 1980's. The 2.0 Genesis also shares a detuned version of the 4B11T found in the EvoX. Seeing how well those motors take mods very well compared to ours, it's not really a downgrade. If you want it and can afford it, then get it. I'm not going to lecture you about personal finance. It's only those who cannot truly afford to do such a thing, that I start to lecture.

My friend has a Genesis. It's nice at the back, but wretchedly bland front-style totally turns me off.
The low seating, stubby gearshift, and comfy leather seats does lend more of an atmosphere to the cockpit than the subies though. |

How great were those 6 months if you're already thinking about losing that much money on the car? As someone pointed out, you are definitely losing money.
Not sure why boost/oil gauges would be a reason for switching. Pretty easy to add them to the WRX. If you don't mind me asking, why did you even pick up a WRX for 6 months? Usually, if you've decided within that short amount of time that you'd rather be driving a Genesis, I'm inclined to think that it was always your goal to have one which means you 'settled' for a WRX. Why not just wait it out and buy the Genesis in the first place? Could have saved a lot of money. Just my .02 cents. |

I drove one, and the suby was worlds better, the rev limiter on the genesis was poop, you get close to redline and loose like 50% power. The clutch wasnt progressive enough for a daily driver.

Going from 5 doors to 2 doors?
I don't see how this Genesis is that good of a trade. |

Big mistake n waste of money my boy has 1 that he paid 30 something for it fully loaded and it has no traction un like wrx...which is all wheel drive!! The best part and its a 4 door sports car vs a ****y 2door.....n like some1 said earlier a wrx holds its value a million times more....last but not least my boy had a 2011 genesis n traded it in for a STI they gave him 17 for a car he paid 30+ for in 2 years of use!?????? U wont every see that value drop that much in a Subaru even the family 1s!!!!!

I paid about $2500 in taxes and registration for my 2013 WRX. I would hate to do that again in 6 months. IDK your financial situation, but I hope you're pulling it in to cover that kind of loss.
It sounds like you didn't do a thorough enough car search initially, but it's your money so have fun. |

damn, you're the first and only person I have heard of switching from a wrx (or sti) to a genesis. My friend has a genesis and is dying to get rid of it for a WRX but just can't afford to right now. My salesman for my STI (friend of a friend) also has a genesis and is in the SAME situation...think he wants the newer forester turbo or wtv he said was out...simply put by both again, the genesis is a fun car and has some interesting features, but it's really just "Meh".
But what really counts is that you are happy. You aren't here to please US with your purchase, it's you who has to drive the car daily and pay the car monthly. Congrats on the trade. |
