Default The Big SE Mi Meet aka East meets West

Hey almost everybody is back in to the swing of things again. I hope everybody had a great break/vacation during the christmas/new year season.

So I guess its time to start a new thread b/c the old east meets west thread has been clogged with bumps and the Ann Arbor pics post thread is being taken over by discussion regarding when the next big SE Mi meet will take place. Well here it is! I'd like some info/feedback from you people.

I was thinking of either the weekend of February 9th or February 16th. I need to know which one would be best suited to your busy schedule. Additionally, I'd like some input as to a central location between the east and the west side that everybody could meet at. I was thinking Detroit... Dan (god) suggested Royal Oak. Again, gimmie input here.

I hope to see all of you and put some faces with the names.

As long as it's not over spring break, I'm there. How about meeting in A2?

A2, yeah right! East meets west out west huh?! Royal Oak would be good, but parking will be a problem as will finding some place that can take a big group. Novi might be better since it's more centrally located as far as the A2 people and us eastsiders go using those two points as the east/west limits. Detroit would be good too, maybe Greektown. Fishbones for instance can take really large groups. Parking is not so bad there (although you do have to pay for it), but we might not be able to get our cars in one big group for a photo op. Detroit also gives us eastsiders a bit of a location advantage too. Maybe we should do Detroit this time and Novi next time or vice/versa. A good place in the Novi area would be 5th Ave, where they have their regular meet, or in Livonia at Champs (sp?) which is not far from there.

Either of the two dates you proposed is fine with me. For meeting location, I suggest around the Novi area.........more open space.

Yet another option is Somerset in Troy where the M3 people meet up. Lot's of parking space now that x-mas is over. Lot's of retaurants in the area as well. I think it's closer to the East side folks but just tossing out ideas. What does everyone think?

Ugh, not gameworks again, parking was a nightmare. I think a place with a big parking lot that we can all park together is much more preferable. Detroit is hardly in the center of Michigan. Perhaps you midwest folk have a different type of geography and geometry than us west-coasters.

JC - lol

Well here's the deal the location: ....... NOVI

Where in Novi? I have no f-in clue. I'm gunna start looking in to places out there and calling around seeing if they can accomodate a large group of people.

Date... well since either dates work well for you guys, I'll just pick a date that doesn't come close to some sort of exam (I'm still in school) . Keep watch and keep me posted on opinions etc.

later

We did that last winter. It was on a Sunday and the Lions game was on so the place was pretty packed. We ended up sitting around the pool tables until they had a table for us. We'll probably have a MUCH larger group this time too, so I don't know if the Library Pub is the best bet. Maybe 5th Avenue, or Champs in Livonia which is right by Novi. I'm sure Sherif will come up with something.

I just want to say one thing here too. TIP THE FREAKING WAITRESS!! I've been to a few meets at restaurants where I've put in $20.00 for a $6.00 meal to cover some cheapskate's lack of tipping. Tip at least 15% people!

Shoulda had it at the Library Pub this year during a Lions game, probably would have had the whole place to ourselves

Oh, don't a lot places automatically bake in like 15% for large parties (over 8) ? You can tell I don't get out too much.

Fred/Everyone

I herd the magic word..... Champps, 7 Mile & Haggerty

Champps it is everyone !!!!!!!!!

I work there, I could reserve a whole section for us, AND if some one has a video, like the WRC year preview on speedvision, I could have them put that in on one of the big screen TV's.

Just give me a date and time and ill see what I can do....

This will be the mother of all meets.....

Of course I probably won't be able to make it but I can dream can't I ? Of course if the stars are properly aligned I may have a chance, where's that star chart

So it'll be a Saturday ? What time do you think ? Maybe I can get out for an hour or so to get my Scooby in some of those cool pics you guys have and meet some of the other guys. We can plan the next big install day, the gear is piling up and I'm ready to make 'er go faster

...and this is the Champps right off of 275 or 96 or whatever that is right ?

Noon probably makes the most sense, unfortunately it's not really the best for me. I would probably need to wait for my wife to get to work before I could make an appearance, 3 or 4 meaning I'd get there by 4 or 5. Hopefully there will still be a bunch of you around by the time I get there. Ah well, same old same old. Looking forward to it.

actually, no b/c this weekend is the autoshow, next weekend is Sno Drift Pro Rally, so that leaves us with the first weeks in February, so therefore those are our options. Personally I'd like to do it after the 26th b/c then I could toss some back with you guys b/c I'd finally be 21, but alas...
