Post No Check Engine Light with the ITC..... Belive it or not?

After much needed help from Mike Moffa I finally have my ITC installed and running on my 97 2.2L automatic. I did this on Saturday and flogged the car pretty handily on Sunday with our SC'i'C meet at Hooters and Timmons (nothing like catchin air at 40mph....DOH right Brian) . I still have NO check engine light and I have even advanced timing enough to have the stock ECU retard timing (felt like bogging) .
I am figuring that the reason is something to do with the OBD II software and that it became more strict on newer versions for our cars. With all that said and done next is the J&S to complete the alphabet soup and then the turbo.
So for those with 97 2.2L's I would hope you too have the same results and it does make a difference with higher octane gas and some advancement in timing. So Kevin Thomas and others you can consider this an option now that won't throw a CE light and if mine goes I will post here.

I thought that OBDII was introduced in the MY00's... Which would be odd since most people with 98-99's have the light come on. *shrug*

I believe it.. for now

Trust me on this, the CE light will come. At one point, I actually managed to go close to 2 weeks before the CE light came back on. But it always does.
By the way, how far did you advance the timing? As of now, my ITC is set at 6/6/6/5/5 and my car seems to run quite well, certainly much better than stock..

And thus it came to pass.

8 if memory serve's me right OBDI covered the 94 and up automobiles and starting with 1997 model years ODBII was phased in which allowed more strict sensoring and caused the CE light and other sensors to trip. The CE light that the 98/99/00's are getting is a misfire code because the ITC intercepts the Crank and Cam signals and modifies it to advance or retard timing.

DADA I am noticing better throttle response off idle and definetly better pull to the top end. If I had the money I would dyno my car and see what kind of #'s I would get but then I can just hear all the anti-auto DYNO chart non believers out there saying there usual.

Cacaphony if it does come on I will like I stated post here or in a new post but I am at about 400 miles and nothing not even a blink and I advanced it about 7 off idle and when I got on it was when the stock Knock Sensor beat back the timing. IIRC my settings with out running to my car are
3,6,6,5,3 for now till I play around with it alittle more. I was expecting the CE light when I installed it and even on my trip to LA for our meet and our freeway jaunt which was fun and I used as a Knock/retard/CE light test and nothing.

Nick Don't make me come down there and smoke you and your Turbo'ed auto RS like that Integra. And you wonder why he left you like your GIRL!!!!

The ITC made Throtle response MUCH BETTER and the car pulls much harder. My CE light came on after about a week, mainly cuz I advanced the timing to around 9-10 accross the board. I did a ECU reset and now I'm at +7 across the board with NO CE light. I also have my AFC -5% across the board at High throtle. my car only has exhaust, no intake.

I think my girl left becuz my setup was too stiff, she did not like the harsh ride so I told her to go find another.

Hmm, that did not sound car related.

Edit: Race me Rich? You have enuff problems losing to Joel.

On Every car in America, OBD 1 ended in 1995 and starting in 1996 all cars had to have OBD 2.

Nick you must think that me not showing to race Joel the "rental car" racer meant I lost. Well let's put it this way if Joel wanted to race then fine more power to him I have no argument. But he said he wanted to race me with his 1.8L not a rental Gran Prix. Which that is all behind us now. Anyways Nick you know I would humiliate you in reverse too .
