Exactly the same in my Tribeca. It's nicely placed so you don't see the light itself, but gives a nice soft red glow around the center console shifter area. It's not really needed, since everything in the center stack and console has their own backlights, and the cupholders have their blue LEDs, but it's a nice touch.

Subaru was trying to move upscale with the Tribeca, and it shows.

For those of you missing the glove box led.. Remove the glove box and take the glove box cover out. I found my led light tucked in next to the cabin air filter.

Refresh my memory, IIRC it's been mentioned on here. Is it true that you get one free wiper blade replacement under warranty? Also, one precision alignment was mentioned too I believe.

Anyone good with warranties, what are the one time items people never ask for?

You should be able to get wipers covered under warranty without a problem. I don't think there is a limit. Regarding the alignment, I think they would do it if you had problems very early on.

Nothing wrong with them, just normal wear. Only switching to winter blades. I've never had those covered before but thought someone mentioned they'll supply them once.

I had them changed a few times on my STI. They will replace the refills, not the whole blade.

I did the exact same thing on my '13 Sport Limited that I picked up a week ago. After 2 days of driving in the rain on the stock Yoko's, I couldn't stand it. Went straight in and put on some DWS and haven't looked back. These tires are amazing.

Doing it is relatively easy... a couple of LEDs, a resistor or two, some soldering, finding a power source. The hard part is doing it well. If you look at the cars that have it, the lights are recessed and positioned such that you don't see them unless you're looking for them. Replicating that is gonna be hard.

I might try putting a pair of dim red or amber LEDs under the lip of the center console door. Won't be as nice as lighting from above, but it'd light up the cup holders nicely, and more subtle than putting LEDs in the cup holders themselves.

I also might not. Depends on if I can find some more round tuits. ;-)

Honestly, the closest thing to a ready-made solution probably is finding a BMW rear view mirror that has them built in (some (but not all) BMWs stick the lights on the bottom of the rear view mirror), but you'll need to adapt the wiring and probably change the mirror mount on the windshield...

It's probably no easier than doing it yourself, though it might end up looking nicer.

Or one of those lamps on a gooseneck that plugs into the cig lighter. Not exactly subtle, but it'd work.

I was thinking tap into the mirror power and just put an led in the map light housing

Is it Gentex that makes the OEM mirror for Subaru?
Their website sucks for product information, but they've made at least one model of autodimming rearview mirror with map lights.

Has anyone been able to figure out what the hole right above the center cubby hole is for? It's above the center cubby but below the hvac controls.

If you're referring to the hole that's in the "ceiling" of the cubby, then I believe it's for an ambient lighting LED to illuminate the cubby when your headlights are on.

However, I used it as a pass-through for the wiring to the hands-free mic connected to my new Pioneer head unit. I installed my mic on the ceiling of the cubby, just in front of that hole.

My guess is they kept the hole there from previous models to either add lighting to the cubby that they never finalized or to keep their options open for future models/trims. Maybe to reduce costs the new wrx will have the same cubby/control housing and that will recieve the lighting? hmmm...

Or it's possible that Imprezas sold in other countries have features/options that we don't get in the USA. I believe Canadian Imprezas get some features that we can't get without going aftermarket, and the same is likely true of Imprezas sold in Europe.

Thanks for the replies.. That's what I thought it might be for but I'm unable to find a light online to purchase for that spot. What would it connect to as a power source if there was a light available?

Also for anyone interested in a footwell illumination kit for our 2012-2013 impreza models I've come across this:

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/700...SFJ100Rev1.pdf

It's listed under the 2013 accessory installation guide, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a 2012 model as well. It's about $120-130 online from what I have found.

Thanks for the link. That would provide foot well lighting, but not the cubby and cup holder lighting that would complete the ambient lighting affect.

I know it doesn't solve the cubby light problem, but at least we have a subaru direct footwell illumination kit option.

This is a site that offers the footwell kit: http://www.subarupartswebsite.com/OE...701SFJ100.html

The part number is: H701SFJ100

For $120, I would just use the $40 kit I mentioned on the last page, and extend the wire if needed.

Looks like its kind of a pain in the ass to install:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/b3gn25nzlt...SFJ100Rev1.pdf

You'll have to remove the glove box, and the center console face plate.
