Nice! I met him a few weeks ago when a buddy got his STi tuned by him.

What is your setup and what issues did he have to sort out?

My basic setup is as follows:

2002 WRX Wagon
Built block/head (EJ25/B25)
FP Green HTZ
Killer B Holy Headers
Tial EWG
TurboXS Catless DP
Borla Hush Exhaust
Walbro 450 hardwired
ID1300
PPG straight cut 1-4 dogbox
Carberry ROM running flexfuel/Speed Density

The issues:
First, initially during 93 octane tune session, the EWG wasn't opening at all (so boosting to 27psi at 400whp, no Bueno), no matter what John did on the tune. He proceeded to trouble shoot by removing a bunch of parts to get to the EWG. Thankfully, it was just a torn vacuum line, but was just a pain for him to get to.

Second, my car being a bugeye, the openport sometimes doesn't flash, so he busted out an older cable to make it work.

Third, the baseline tune needed A LOT of work, which I know is part of this service, but John had the deep experience and engineering background needed to tear and rebuild the map.

It got tuned to around 430whp on his Mustang dyno at 21psi on e85, with my IDC at 85%. Having tossed this car around a bit today, I wouldn't want anymore power, as this is my DD.

Got my intercooler. But it is missing the short pipe coupler to the throttle body. Contacted Grimmspeed to see what I can do about that.

And ordered an Invidia Q300 single today! Once I get the exhaust and intercooler on, I'll be full bolt-ons except for the header.

Damn dude looking great! I love the turbo layout. I wish my FP Red was rotated... would save a lot of headaches!

Made 2 of the AOS vent lines today, started test fitting pieces to see how I want to route things, also started brainstorming to clean up the engine bay a little

I don't really care about looks too much as long as it performs, but I'll do a little bit

How is hood clearance with the flipped manifold? Especially keeping the alternator in the middle? Any phenolic spacers?

I wanna flip the wrx manifold on my coupe, but seems like itíll be a close fit. I feel like the 93-01ís have less room under the hood than later years.

The hood cleared last setup with minimal work, I had to cut a small part of the webbing right where my throttle body coupler was.

I have 8mm phenolics this time but I have closed the hood and didn't notice any interference

Hmm, good to know it can fit even with 8mm spacers.

Iím still deciding if I want to keep the alternator centered, or move it to either side. Moving it would give more room for the fmic piping, but i also donít feel like moving it.

Installed the GS intercooler since I got the coupler and clamps from GS. Still need to put on the exhaust, but with taking care of the baby on the weekends so my wife gets a break, I don't have a lot of time.

So driving the car gingerly until I can get it on and get it re-tuned. No big boost until I get the new map to account for the intercooler and exhaust.

Discovered that at some point, I think in just the past couple of days, I apparently caught a rock on the driver side headlight of the beater Impreza. BB-sized hole and some cracking.

And of course it's supposed to be raining for much of the next week. Guess I should tape that baby up for now!

-12AWG speaker wire
-JL 12W3V3 subwoofer, 12", 2 ohm, single coil, 500 Wrms
-Wicked C.A.S. Magicbox fiberglass sub box

Nice!!

I installed my exhaust finally. Invidia Q300 single. And a big fat 500g stainless shift knob (only $33 on EBay, so figured I'd give it a try).

Now to reach out to Clark Turner Tuning and get the car tuned for the intercooler and exhaust.
