Default Ford Launches 2010 Fiesta Contest in U.S., Named Second Best-Selling Euro Brand

Quote:
If you can't wait until next year to get your hands on a 2011 Ford Fiesta (one of our Gotta Have Cars for 2010), you may have a chance to drive one in the coming months courtesy of a new, excitement spurring, Blue Oval marketing campaign called the Fiesta Movement.

Ford is giving 100 people the opportunity to win a six month long drive in an international-spec Fiesta with free gas, insurance and 24-hour concierge. All you have to do is send in a two to five minute long video (via the Web site HERE) before March 13, 2009 explaining why you would be the ideal choice.

But simply driving the car is only part of the winners' fun. If selected, temporary Fiesta drivers will be required to go on monthly "secret assignments" given by Ford Mission Control. What exactly these entail is still unknown.

Speaking of Dearborn, its European arm, Ford of Europe, has secured the title of Europe's second best selling brand with an 8.6% market share thanks largely in part to the successful Fiesta. In the first two months of its introduction in 2008, the model sold an amazing 61,000 units in 19 main European markets.

Last December, the company moved 90,500 vehicles off dealership lots, some 22,200 units less than a year prior. In total, Ford sold 1,443,800 models in 2008.

Unfortunately, I don't like the looks of that "translation in progress" notice. I'd rather they not make any changes from Euro > USDM. In fact, don't even make it 50-state approved. Just sell it in the other 49 states so it will get 45mpg like it should and California can drive their hybrids instead. Sounds like a win-win to me...

Cars are made 50 state legal because CA pwns car sales.
