Lightbulb Advice for future fobbit in Iraq

Looking for any tips or the like for making life bearable while living in a trailer in Iraq for a year. I'm going over for some IT work and am not sure where I will be stationed besides 'Iraq'. I leave for CRC on the 31st and have most of my clothing purchased. I'll be spending my work day in a trailer with good A/C and hopefully my housing will also be a descent trailer. If anyone can offer helpful suggestions for my situation I'd appreciate it.
If you have to look up what a fobbit is, your reply is not needed.

Find out where you will be. If you end up in Tallil, let me know, I have plenty of movies and music to last anyone.

BTW bring a 1TB Hard Drive. I know I gave some tips a few threads ago under TXIC.

I have my Desktop and xbox 360 with a Netbook. IT all the way.

IIRC, Brian already has multiple, multiple TB hard drives loaded and ready.

Hey Brian, can you take a gun? LOL!

+1 on the bring a hard drive to share music and movies with people.
Get on a satellite internet server with some other guys but not too many.
Most FOB's have groups that get together for certain things like poker, guitar and things like that. Keep an eye out around the PX for event posters.
I made it a point to try and break up the time where I was just in the FOB by eating non DFAC food, grabbing a coffee or just browsing the PX or Turkish bazaar. Also, check the DFAC for specialty dinner nights like Mongolian BBQ night. Try not to spend too much time in your room or you will probably go stir crazy after a while. Good Luck

Yup, already have 4 1.5TB hard drives and have filled up 3 of them with ISOs of all my dvd/bluray/hddvd movies that I own. I'm just taking my old p4 thinkpad with me until I know the housing situation and then I'll decide if I want a portable or large screen laptop. No guns allowed for me, but I will be taking a good knife or two with me
I will not take my ps3 with me but will pre-pack it for shipping if I find it could be useful.
I will be issued a bulletproof vest and helmet as well as goggles.

Well they have beetles the size of your hand flying around. When they land near you, they actually make a thud sound. Camel spiders can be found if you look for them.

The gnats are horrible. I think it's like 2% of them carry a disease that will eat the skin around the bite and makes your flesh fall off. Some days you'll be covered in gnats. At least where I was. I never got the unlucky bite, but I did see a few guys who did. One got it on his face. You get disability for it, but the huge scar is forever.
