heck yeah it does... I was visiting my parents over the holidays and drove my stepdads ES 350, which I believe is the same engine, and that thing surprised the ***** out of me... I was changing lanes to get past someone and gave it some gas, that thing pushed me back in my seat, went from 60 to 80 in no time...

It's too bad they didn't find a way to stuff that engine in the BRZ, that would be a beast...

Word is that the next IS will be built on a lengthened BRZ platform. 3200lbs (wishful thinking) and a 300hp RWD V6? Hot potato.

I find that very hard to believe, but we'll see. I can't imagine Toyota using what is essentially a modified Impreza platform on a Lexus, given the minimum requirement for refinement.

Yeah, how would a non-boxer engine fit on an Impreza platform anyways...

Not unless the Legacy and IS are about to... oh I won't go there.

The GR V6 is very narrow at the block/upper oil pan area. Fitting a flat engine has far more constraints than fitting a V configuration. One drifter has already shoehorned an IS-F V8 into the chassis. I don't think length would be a huge deal on getting a V6 in there. It would just require completely different motor mounts.

Interestingly, if a V6 was used, AWD would work, too. Lexus uses a divorced front diff mounted to the side of the engine, with the axle passing through the oil pan, for the AWD IS350. The transfer case is a lot like a truck/SUV transfer case, too. That isn't possible with a boxed engine and the current engine placement relative to the front axles. Could we see an AWD sedan based on the BRZ using a V engine instead of a boxer and divorced front diff instead of the typical symmetric AWD?
