dave got me thinking that something was up, but all the data i can see from previous users points to there being 500 to 700 rpms of difference td04 to vf23. for example, the old dyno plots by shiv (from http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=vf23):

also this one (from http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ight=vf23+vf30) which shows it really coming onto a boil at 4k:

also from http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...03&postcount=7

My testing has found after the TDO4
+500rpm lag on VF24/28
+600rpm lag on VF29
+650~700rpm lag on VF34
+800rpm lag on VF23/30
+900rpm lag on VF22

Okay, so I did a pull on the way home and I was wrong...full boost at 2700 rpm, not 2500. I bought my turbo used, and pretty sure it hasn't been pnp.

i have a vf23 on my car tuned by turboxs and i dont hit 20 psi at all and my boost level on my utec is 400 this seems weird that you claim 20 psi and then 18, i max at about 18 and never hit 20 unless its really cold like winter time anyone else?

jr, i also have a totally custom boost control setup: ball+spring MBC and utec-controlled GM solenoid in parallel.

scoobie1, do you have some kind of datalogging capability? eyeballing gauges while driving/shifting has proven very inaccurate in my experience. as a result all of my numbers are directly from utec logs.

Yeah, I'll plug into the UTEC and see what it says after I get back from Washington this weekend.

with dynos as uncalibrated as they seem to be, it's possible. i had someone tell me that a stock sti dynoing 250whp is reasonable.

even on an "average" one, you'd need a lot more mods than that. adi, ewg would get you close... or just a bottle of n2o. i've actually considered it!

have any dyno graphs of your VF23?

the difference between dave and me is that i still have 160psi in all cylinders. launch control is set to 5000, so no 6k dumps.

you are using a VF30 with stock TMIC, and you have 300whp. I'm sorry, but all the new VF series turbos flow within 50CFM of each other i think. A VF30 does not push much more than a VF23. It all depends on the dyno. I bet you got tuned on a high reading dyno jet.

If you look at the thread he posted his graph in it states it is a VF34 and his tuner says it is some freak knock off turbo....I'm thinking it's a 1818 clone.

If you go to the tdc's web page you will see they don't have a high reading dyno.
