sorry to jump in at a weird time. but someone asked for a dyno chart.. here is mine . i made 265 whp on a dynapak and 250 ft/lbs torque

mods
vf23
565cc injectors
fuel pump
uppipe
turboback
front mount intercooler
turbo inlet pipe
and tune with a utec by Dan at Tuning Factory(godspeed)

Wow, this thread came back from the dead...nope, I lost it a long time ago. Its been almost 2 years since I had that old VF23 dyno'd. A friend of mine got the turbo and the rest of my STg4 setup and put it on his 04 WRX and its weird cause it doesn't spool like it did on my car. Don't get me wrong, his car is still fast but the 23 on my old WRX used to kick in well below 3k rpm and just pull like crazy but it doesn't do that on his car. Maybe I had a ringer?

4.7mafv makes me

i'm still dialing in the SD map on the utec.. i'd like to lean it out more at redline. so far i am very happy with the advance i'm able to throw back in compared to my safe oem ecu base map. having played around with the oem reflash stuff for a few months now, i have to say it is nice to get back to the utec, primarily because the updating process is far quicker (although i do have to point out that i am helping test a realtime ecu tuning module), and the logging requires a bit less mental processing before intelligent tuning decisions can be made. for these reasons i do feel more comfortable pushing things with the utec than with the oem ecu.

btw, who knew a vf23 could hold 21+psi at redline?

Looks like you are pushing the limit on the stock MAP. Any plans to upgrade to a 3bar or bigger?

yeah, i've got plans to.

that's the easy part!

i am going to try branching off the 3bar gm sensor that came with my autometer electrical boost gauge.

on the other hand, unlike some others, my oem ecu definition has tables for slope and intercept for the MAP sensor scaling. maybe i'll just switch to a 3 bar for both oem ecu and utec. i do greatly prefer the oem ecu's boost control over the utec's, and to control boost you have to know what it is.

do a writeup on the 3bar sensor ken.i'll most likely be needing one with my new setup come spring (selling AP, going UTEC+enginuity for SD. something tells me a 3" inlet 18G might just max out my MAF

I have siad that a few times. I get "no way have you tried the new PID?".
My response to that is the stock ecu has much better boost control than anything you can buy for <$5000.

<--jelous that you have the tables to use a 3bar with the stock ecu.

i made the changes yesterday. i just took a couple of quick logs and things seem to be handling the timing well so far.

a few notes: min MAP for mapping is 10psi, max is 24.5, so the 100 column is really only used when the MAP sensor is maxed out. OLF crossover points are 1000rpm, 20% TPS, and 12psi MAP with a 1psi hysteresis. this keeps the utec out of the picture while at wastegate boost or lower.

also, i'd like to point out that the latest utec firmware DOES interpolate horizontally. in other words, even though the MLP may show up as "90" in the log, if the actual boost level is midway between what would be 90 and 100 load it will set timing midway between the two. this is quite unlike the older software that did not interpolate horizontally at all.
