Post John, Joe, and whoever else wants to participate in our mudflap install.

Keep an eye on this thread:
http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Foru...ML/000203.html

As soon as the stuff becomes available, I'm going to order enough material for all of us that want to do this. When it arrives, I'll set up a barbecue in my back yard on a Saturday and we'll have a mudflap party. Any Michiganders that want in, let me know.

Dude, the material is like 20 bucks. Don't eat for a couple days, you'll get the money

I'll keep you updated anyhow. Perhaps the material won't be available for a few weeks, so I'll check back with you when the time comes

Thumbs down

Guys - HDPE isn't that flexible. I got some from Dante thinking it'd be similar to urethane flaps but they're way stiff.

I've got a bunch of it so if someone wants it I can send it to them for cheap...

Dante's design is good (a bit small IMO but good none the less) but the material isn't "perfect"

Ken @ Susquehanna Motorsports http://catalog.com/susq/index.htm sells urethane sheets that are big enough for "good" flaps. I'm gonna hold out for some of those...

Just my 0.02 from an ex-Michiganian.

Okay, I took his advice and looked at this stuff:
http://catalog.com/susq/rally.htm

The sheets are listed at 12 bucks per square foot. I will order today, if possible, so chime in if you want in. As of now, I'll be ordering for myself, John, and Ben.

Yeah, most likely this Saturday, provided the stuff gets here on time. They are 68 bucks for a set of 4, plus shipping I guess. So let's tentatively plan for about noon or so at my house on Saturday. If it doesn't work, we'll do Sunday instead.

I'm going to finalize the order by 4 today. Right now I have 4 sets: Me, John, Ben, and you. Damn...that's 272 dollars worth of mudflaps...plus shipping

Do we want to do a little barbecue, too? Something small, like just burgers and dogs?

Joe, do you have John's pager number so I can contact him?

Update: I am ordering the stuff like in the next half hour. They are closing the shop down for the week because of some rally school and won't be back till monday, so I'm ordering them now. 4 sets of black. 68 bucks a set. You guys better not back out on me, cause I'm doing this no matter what...please respond quickly if this isn't acceptable

It's done. I ordered 5 sets. There is one extra set for whomever may want them in the future, or if Joe wants us to front them to him. I paid 35.00 2nd day to have them here by Friday, so we can do them any time this weekend.

Info from him: we need large fender washers.

They cannot be drilled, we need a punch of some kind to punch holes in them.

Nearly indestructible, but don't back up a curb with them on...you'll rip them off, possibly with part of your fender.

Okay guys. Anyone is welcome this Saturday, even if you're not doing mudflaps. I don't own a grill, so if someone wants to volunteer, that would be great. Also, hopefully we can get some volunteers for meat, buns, chips, etc

How about Friday we go get tools and materials together, like bolts and washers and stuff, rather than going to Krispy Kreme?

Im sure we will all meet at like Krispy Kreme/Gratiot on the day we do it and play follow the leader I got pink paint for anyone wanting the DIY badge mod I will also try to pick up various hardware bits for the install. I got some premade carbon if we wanna make brackets sure will be alot easier than stainless as the instrucions use.
Or for ultimate tuffness I can try to whip up some kevlar pieces.

That's the one, Steve.

Anyhow, like John (MichRS) said in another thread, this is more of a garage day than an exclusive mudflap day.

Directions to my house are a piece of cake. All who are interested, PM me for details.

So far, we've got:

Me
John (MichiganRS)
thelast95i (what's your name, dude?)
Joe (Safir)
Ben (Hondaslayer)
Ryan Plum

Still planned for noon on Saturday. Still 5 sets of mudflaps, one of them being extra, in case someone wants to claim them. Also, don't forget, with shipping divided up, that's 75 bucks a set. It's not necessary to pay me immediately, just be reasonable

I'm still planning to barbecue. I will finalize this tomorrow at Krispy Kreme, but so far, the volunteer list looks like this:

Me: Grill, meat, chips, condiments, plates, napkins, drinks.

Everyone else: Nothing

Please, we should be able to get more than 6 people! What are you doing, JC? God?

Also if we have a larger turnout than what we plan on. Another roption is picking up rubber dually mats(Pep Boys) and cutting them. I have the STI patterns set and they are like 11x16" for the fronts and aprox 11"x11" rear so anything that size or a bit larger to be on the safe side would work and I will also try to keep an eye out when I pickup the hardware so if anyone shows and wants to make some. Any local plastics place can supply various sheets like Cadilac Plastics or I think there is another on 10 Mile and Mound RD.
