STI Upraded strut mounts on stock STI suspension.
Does anyone with an STI have the upgraded strut mounts? I am looking for some recommendations to fix the harsh jarring thumps from the expansion gaps in the road.
I have new tires (pzero neros), which give a much nicer (yet not as inspiring) ride than the stock tires. I've heard that the upgraded strut mounts help with the jarring problem the STI has. The reasoning given was that while the rubber is harder than stock horizontally, it is slightly softer vertically, which makes the strut work like it should and not jolting back and forth. Can anyone with tell me if this is the case? particularly if you have a stock STI set up with upgraded strut mounts. Or, if you've had the harsh jolts from driving over expansion gaps from an upgraded stiffer suspension. Please help. I'm going crazy.

I'm just regurgitating information, but perhaps you could try the STI Pink springs. Supposedly they improve ride quality and also improve handling.

the group n hats aren't going to help you with the "jolt" of expansion joints or sharp bumps, from my expereince. neither are the pink JDM springs.
what they will do (best in combination) is reduce the "bounce" on seemingly smooth roads, and reduce the "chop" of the ride. the "jarring" stuff will still be there, though the p-zero nero's are a good step at reducing it. beyond that, if the expansion joints and sharp bumps are still driving you crazy, a non-inverted strut and/or softer springs would trade some performance for comfort. |

Actually when I got my Pinks and tops on...I'd say the jarring IS quite a bit less. No joke. I'm in love with the Pinks and N tops. Night and day difference in ride comfort and pretty big jump in performance. Subaru was dumb IMO to not have these stock. Actually considering they're selling just the Pinks for $375...they're pretty smart.

Interesting. maybe it is a little better. the only car I've driven that had pinks and hats also had all season tires, and I attributed most of the reduction in the jarring impacts to the all season tires.
