It would take a cruel act of fate to keep me from making this event.

Sweet! I was kind of scared when I heard that they were going to make an announcement live today when I was watching F1 this weekend. Thought maybe things fell through.

They wouldn't hold a live press conference to say the deal fell through... they'd quietly issue a press-release on Friday afternoon when no one was paying much attention.

I suppose if the fall-through reason was spectacular, like "We are finally ready to reveal that aliens are indeed coming to invade Earth.... oh, and that F1 thing in Texas?... permanent hiatus... yeah, bummer... sorry F1 fans."

Good grief, any Europeans attending or competing are likely to die from the heat then.

Be glad. For the past few weeks it's been kind of up in the air whether or not the City of Austin was actually going to go forward. That would have been a huge tease to have all this build up and then nothing happen.

Also, from what I have heard. Spokes - a local auto race event holder - they are trying to make a deal with those that own the F1 track to possibly set up autocross events in the parking lot and other possible events. It is up in the air now and nothing has been confirmed except they are trying to make a deal.

I want HPDE on track and go carts for my kids

Also, I'd be more likely to do auto-x here rather than spokes' usual location in San Antonio.

If they do have auto-x events at the F1 track, I would so drive there in a heart beat.

I have an inclination that I will be spending a lot of money at that track in the future.

This is all such good news. Cannot wait.

Also, some rumors of a rally course near the F1 track. I haven't confirmed these rumors. But if they are true......that area will take all my money for the rest of my life!!!

Look up "Austin City Council" on facebook, and 'like' my post of having a drag strip added next to there. It's about time Austin joined Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.

Do you know how oppressive the heat in Bahrain and Singapore is? Piece of cake.

I am stunned that Aussie V-8 Supercars are coming stateside. Some of the best roadracing on the planet.
