What's the best equal length header for a 2013 WRX. Current mods done to the car.... Cobb down pipe, invidia q300 exhaust, grimmspeed up pipe, id1000 injectors, AEM 320 fuel pump. Possible turbo upgrade down the road.

I forgot to mention that mine is swain coated too and it's worth the extra wait and $$$

It's likely the single best mod on the car.

So a question for the original poster....

Now you know the story, when are you getting one?

Also, do you realize how much louder your car will be with a header bolted to it? Is that concern at all?

It may make it a little louder, but not exponentially loud as you are suggesting.

Loudness is directly related to the downpipe back.

This video has come in handy a few times recently. Yes, I realize it's not an ELH. My point is, the header makes the car quite a bit louder.

HAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Wrong. Headers and turbo have a HUGE impact on the volume of your exhaust. Have you never had performance headers and a bigger turbo installed I guess?

I put the killerb holy headers on as noted on my post above... and the car seemed more mellow in tone. I have had both the maddad whisper catback and the blitz nur spec exhaust on the car (catless DP) and either way it seems less loud compared to the OEM headers. That may just be because it is smoother, and not as much "rumble" .... YMMV.

You spend too much time reading all that drivel in those cheap car magazines

Yes, they have *some* affect on sound but just installing a header w/everything else the same will not be an exponential sound change.

The size of the DP, the cat-back piping and, most of all, any muffler/resonator/cat will effect the largest change in sound volume

This is true. However, in OP's case, since he's already got an aftermarket turboback as well as an up pipe installed, bolting on a header will make his car significantly louder. Especially in WOT conditions. Having friends with full exhausts on their cars (EJ255/257 engine'd cars)I can attest, first hand, to this. It's definitely not a bad sound by any means, but it is louder and will disturb neighbors who do not share the same desire to hear a Subaru engine in the morning on a cold start. If that's not a concern, then OP can go for it and enjoy his loud car.

I don't even read car magazines. I own a car and have been through it. Have you?

Adding ELH and a ETS turbo kit made an ENORMOUS difference to the sound of my car. Night and day. Exponential. Huge.

None of that lives behind the downpipe.

Edit: In case it matters I have a Q300 that I love and one of the reasons I loved it was how quiet it is. That sucker sounds like the N1 I used to have after adding a big turbo and ETS turbo kit with ELH.

No, I have not been through your car

You can't compare adding an external wastegate and a dump tube to just adding headers.
Try staying on subject

OK buddy.

Your statement that the only thing that matters regarding sound is stuff after the downpipe is blatantly false. That's all I have to say about that.

You are in denial - now stay on the subject of whether or not adding headers , not some junkie dump tube and wastegate, affects the loudness of the exhaust.

What I said was correct, even if you refuse to admit it to yourself

I was responding to your very specific statement about downpipe back being the only thing that significantly impacts the sound of the exhaust. If you want to talk specifically about adding headers, thats fine. My response wasn't to OP, it was to your statement which is absolutely wrong.

Yes I have EWG but I am not even factoring that in. I am talking sitting at idle even. There is a huge ass difference in sound.

I love coming back to NASIOC once in a while to remind myself why everybody outside of here considers it a collection of know it all ******** who have no clue what they are talking about.

Jack, you can honestly listen to the video I posted and say that that person's car, which is, for all intents and purposes, the same as OP's car, is not significantly louder after just the exhaust portion before the turbo was replaced with an aftermarket part? I'm not going to join the pissing match between you and further, but isn't it obvious that car is louder by quite a bit? An ELH will smooth out the exhaust pulses, as Cold Soda explained. That's fact. But added sound pressure is added sound pressure and the header facilitates that. You could bolt on a tiny pipe from the turbo back, and yes, it would be quieter than what OP has as a turboback. But that's not reality here and we're trying to help OP decide whether he wants to add a header to his existing aftermarket turboback.
