Default On Demand Reverse Camera button from Subispeed

Thought Id share this cool reverse camera button I got from subispeed.

http://www.subispeed.com/subispeed-r...i#.WKjLbxiZOCQ

Easy enough to install. They give you an add a fuse and show you where to tap in . The other wire goes to the passenger foot well where you tap a wire there. Then just find a spot to mount the switch. I have to admit that I had to replace the original switch but it wasn't hard finding one on Amazon. Its been working like a champ ever since.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its the one on the left. The red one is for my dash cam.

You can use it any time but it will turn on your reverse lights and change the gear indicator on your dash to R even if cruising in 4th or 5th. I use it when coasting down my driveway or once in a while i use to it to verify I am all the way in my garage while still creeping in.

Nice button. I mounted mine in my cubby hole on the gauge pod.

Spend the 19 bucks. It's worth it, and comes with instructions.

The right way to do this would be to diode-isolate the camera trigger and connect the switch to the camera side of the diode. Then it would not activate the reverse lights or gear indicator, just the camera.

That would be supreme.

My 2015 STi had an issue where when I go into reverse my lights or camera would not activate. The Subispeed harnesses was the right fix for me.

You probably have a bad reverse switch. I'd troubleshoot and fix that.

It's the culprit for sure. But getting to it is another story.. also learned a neat trick. This is the most ridiculous thing ever. With the stock shift knob, it happens rarely. With an aftermarket shift knob it happens all the time....

I bought the harness recently but for the life of me I can't find the brown+yellow wire in my passenger area. Can you maybe post a pic of where that wire is located? (read the instructions a few times now, still no help )

Passenger foot well. Pull the door sill cover off, peel back the carpet then look for a loom of wires. I had to cut the plastic wrap around the bunch of wires to find the wire to tap.

Buying a switch, an add a fuse, T-taps, and wire will cost more than what Subispeed is selling their product for.

has anyone done the schematic analysis for different model Subarus (like this Forrester owner) so you don't have to vampire tap the wire?
