Check out the California 8 at 8:20 (Rod Serling?)

1970 Hot Wheels Commercials - YouTube

Also had the Snake and Mongoose, too. I wish they were still around
I got a Sizzlers set for Xmas one year as a kid (mid-70s). It was a single car set that included the silver car with the wing (featured at the beginning of the commercial in the vid above), a Juice Machine, a loop, straight tracks, 2 180-degree turns, and the white thingie that had the air-actuated thingie to stop the Sizzler car. I remember my Dad setting the track set up and playing with it all night long. I also remember how I loved to put the hose tip from the Juice Machine on my tongue and give my mouth 'some gas.'

A few years back Target 're-issued' some Sizzlers stuff. I picked up a Giant O Fat Track track set and 4-5 cars. A year after the Giant O track set was out, another Sizzlers Fat Track set was released. That set offered a figure 8 shape, but I can't remember if they called it the Califonia 8 set or not. I have it packed away somewhere, so I'll dig it out tonight to verify the name.

Regarding Snake vs. Mongoose sets, I think Kmart had the exclusive distribution rights to the Hot Wheels Classics reissue track sets that were sold in the mid-2000s. I always wanted teh Svs.M set when I was a kid, so when I found it at Kmart, I jumped on it. I think Kmart carried 8 different Hot Wheels Classics track sets. I could be mistaken on that, though.

One of the sets was a 50-foot track pack that had one 50' roll of straight track. I would have loved to have had that as a kid. Once each summer, my neighbor and I would gather all of our HW straight tracks and make a long track down my driveway (on a hill). we would line up 20 or so cars, let em go, and see which ones made it the farthest before crashing. We'd line them back up in reverse order from where they finished. We usually did this for two or so days, switching out cars until we had all of the fastest and farthest cars going. Anyhoo, the 50' track pack would have been handy to have for those days.

And neato customs, Machie3!

i think you have a superfast...which is blue green...they also had the superfast in brown ...its the first issue in the transition to superfast with is very rare...got this cheap as the stickers are not original...i left them on as they may damage the paint if i took them off

I have a good sized collection. I mostly take them out of the box and display them on my desk. I tend to switch them out every so often.

Looking for the 2000GT-R right now. There are still a lot of random 2011 cars in some stores so one may have slipped through the cracks. I have the 510 in black and the 2000GT-X with the green livery.

Almost every time I go to the grocery store I end up grabbing a few. I just picked up the alms m3 gt car. I got one in white and then an all black one. One of my favorite recent ones is a C4 WRC car but it's got no decals or crazy paint, just red with cool wheels. I'll get pics of all my cars soon. I usually only get lambos and ferraris and some older muscle cars. I did pick up that gt-r in the pick above, I also got a 510 race car and a pretty cool gen1 rx-7 car the other day

You sound like my woman. "Why don't you sell those off on craigslist!"

And I go "Because; it takes a special type of person like me to truly love these things! I still play with them god dammit! You won't find anyone on CL like that!"
