![]() hello everybody, I just finished my engine build for my 08 Spec-b.
I have my stock block but I used better internals. here is my build sheet. STI Crankshaft,Eagle Rods, Manley Pistons 8.5:1, 20g turbo, Stanless Valves Stock size, 80# valve springs, stock cams, Injector dynamics 1050x injectors, Deatsch works Dw65C fuel pump, Grimmspeed Top Mount, Tomei UEL Header and Uppipe, Cobb Catted Downpipe, ARP Headbolts and stock Subaru Headgaskets Where should I tell my tuner to set my boost and Rev Limiter, At the moment I am currently at 19psi and curious if i should stay there or go around the 22 mark. I think currently im at 7k rpm but i have not tested that and need to ask. this is my daily driver so im on the side of safety for the moment but also would like to get my moneys worth. any help is appreciated thank you.

![]() Your tuner should tell you that.
if you want to stay safe. 6500 RPMs and 15 psi on a 20g is a good number. |

If you're running reasonable clearances and good oil on what appears to be good valves/springs then 7,200-7,500 is a likely upper limit on "safe" RPM for a low level built engine. The 20G is going to be perfectly fine with 22 psi, but that one should be up to your tuner. Boost is not a good thing to measure by. If your tuner sees high temps then a few psi lower will be safer. Tell him/her what you want (conservative, conservative but with a little hot sauce, not conservative, pull the pin and toss it, etc) and let them tune from there. For reference, I just finished assembling mine, set the limiter to 7,500 and will let the turbo do it's thing until the TMIC get's too hot. |

![]() Well I'm the engine builder, I have good oil pressures and my clearances are in spec for Subaru. I was just getting opinions from other sources just incase tuner wanted to be safe for his own reasons. Nothing against any tuner but they dont want any bad rap for blown engines. For people just wanting more, more, more. I'm sure that happens a lot.
I'm very confident in the engine build just asking for opinions on where I should/could be. |

![]() I would say it depends on your hotside. if you have a 10cm you could probably make power to 8000. best to get it on the dyno to see where it stops making power
