coolant was dirty but there wasnt any oil separation like you see when oil and coolant mix. Car overheats now. The suttering problem was a lean condition. My RRFPR stopped working i guess. I installed STi injectors last nite and tuned for 15psi, it runs great. AFR's are at around 11.5.

But yeah now it overheats bad, Im wondering if the thermostat isnt opening. There is no white smoke in my exhaust which is why im having trouble believing its the headgaskets

do you have another t-stat or diff pressure one to test?

i wonder if theres so little h2o leaking into the cylinder it's being recirculated and not noticed?

did you have a good MAF to turbo tube? thats what the rest of us had.

I know this thread is a but old but I am having the same problem. Bruce, you have the blue V4 swapped wagon with the STi seats that was done at Planet right? (if so, one of the first times I headed up there your car was on a flat bed, I think part of the harness was damaged by the heat from the downpipe). I have a STi V4 Type R swapped RS and have the exact same problem as you did. I remember Nam and Iain were telling me your car was acting just like mine (after 14psi the boost gauge would just start going nuts and car would stop pulling), 1/2 throttle I could go all the way to redline with no issue at all (around 10psi of boost). Well shortly after that starting happening I went up to Planet to test the MAF and coil from the white V4, while we were testing the different parts my oil pressure dropped near 0 psi and the motor was knocking at anything over 2500rpm. So another $3k later I now have a STi Ver8 block and internals and cometic head gaskets. The major stuttering issue is gone but I still get missfires frequently if I go anything past 1/2 throttle. The plugs are maybe 1 month old. I am going to Planet on thursday to test different plug wires but for some reason I dont think thats the problem. I am also running the stock jdm ecu. I have no idea what is causing it and I really dont want to see another block go down because of it. It is just so frustraiting to have an STi swap that you cant really enjoy because once you hit 14.5psi you are most likely going to be getting more then a few missfires. Really takes the fun away from the car. According to my friends my car shoots fireballs when I shift sometimes (I am also running a very annoying venting BOV that came on the swap), any way that could be related?

For reference, my induction hose is fine and has no holes at all.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks,
-Jason

try running on wastegate pressure and see if it is stuttering or not.
