OMGHi2U 2022 BRZ now arriving at Dealers...

Just wanted to mention people are posting the new BRZ is arriving at dealers.

Also note, lets see what dealer marks it up the highest!

So far this is the winner (not my pics):

Wow, 45% markup, and on an auto no less - I don't know what dealer that is, but I'd never do business with them, and would instruct everyone I knew to avoid them as well. Probably write a letter to SOA while I was at it, in hopes that it would affect their WRX/STi/BRZ allocations.

Not gonna matter, theres people out there paying these markups. I was watching one of the last crew cab longbed duramax z71 colorados at a dealer, marked up to 52,xxx. Its gone. Somebody bought that thing. Even in the terrible gold color.

Dealer on brz is putnam burlingame. Even though it looks like maitas showroom.

Love the car, but this is absurd. That price is almost double what the car is worth. Although, I feel worse for the poor schlub who actually pays that amount.

Putnam Subaru. Most Bay Area dealers get away with it because people in Silicon Valley have so much disposable income.

is it surprising or something to you? I could have told you this would happen a year ago and I'm not Nostradamus. It's what happens on FMC's. You need to wait +12-18 months for things to cool off. Everyone knows this. In many areas there is ADM for those who just have to be first.

If no one would pay this, or if everyone would just refuse to pay ADM, it wouldn't be a thing. But you've got countless losers now on social media applications who think "first' is something that's worth paying for.

I'm waiting on the performance package.

None of it matters. 5 year old Beetle verts are pushing 40k.

The less inventory there is for vehicles, used or new, scarcity mindset favors the seller.

Of course. It’s a sellers market. Homes or automobiles. You just have to be patient and wait it out.

Granted it was in great shape with REALLY low miles of 47K; but, a 2006 Baja Turbo recently sold for $25,500. I have the sticker for mine in my drawer at work. MSRP, that I didn't pay, was $26K and some change. BRAND NEW. Makes me wanna put mine up for sale.
We have 2 BRZ sold orders. We won't be getting one till next month, and the other is due in January. 1 is MT. The other is AT. How's that for 50/50 demand! I believe it's the AT that's due in January. Was checking; but, I can't seem to access the pipeline on my laptop.

edit: Yikes, The auto is due in December and the manual is ETA'd for February.

Ours is supposed to be in the second week of December. First time in my life I've ever paid sticker for a vehicle. On the flip side, the last few cars I've sold, I made money on, even after flogging them for years, so as much as it bothers me to pay sticker, it all evens out (is what I tell myself).

Much worse will be the 992 we're planning on acquiring. You think the Suby market is nuts, p-cars are far worse. I'm seeing factory allocations (just a spot in production) going for $20-50K, not including the price. Some or the more-rare cars, that are in stock at a dealers (and they are far and few between), are up to $100K over sticker; but hey, no wait! Factory builds are 6-9 month wait. It's all ridiculous.

Still, and always will be MSRP or below at my dealer for the BRZ with Dec & Feb deliveries.

All I want to do is freakin' test drive one.

A test drive, and I’m hoping to hear some videos with the fake engine sound disabled. The sound of this thing is doing the opposite of growing on me. Some sort of horrid Brrrrrrrr sound that I’m convinced is the fake part. So fingers crossed killing this speaker does the trick.

I’m pretty much sold on a GR86 as a beater for a few years so long as I can get MSRP.

A quick autotempst shows lots of 17-20 brzs with very low miles in the 20s, a few creeping into the low 30s. I see one ambitious dealer asking 38 for a 20 with 2k miles.

I know things are silly out there but I don't think we are quite to this level yet.

you would have to just not care about money to pay nearly 50k for a new brz I think, if you don't care about money you should buy something else.

I'm so confused by this stuff man.

Like... is it rough times for everyone or is it not?

Tons of houses being built and sold locally at HUGE markups over what they used to be... still doesn't seem to be an end in sight for demand, which means people are willingly buying them at ****ing HUGELY expensive prices. Like what used to be 400k new construction a few scant years ago are now going for 600+.

Same thing with graphics cards.
Same thing with cars, apparently.

Who are all these people out there with huge sums of money to just say "price is no object" when it comes to buying stuff like this?

Who the **** makes that much money and yet wants to buy a BRZ? Why are people deciding certain things that, historically have not been rare or worth a premium, are suddenly worth huge premiums instead of just worth patience?

My wife and I are extremely financially stable. She's a doc and I'm a programmer. We have money. I still wouldn't be caught dead getting taken advantage of and I don't understand people who accept it willingly.

The housing market is a lot different than the price of car. I couldn't imagine paying ADM for a entry level sports car. But the housing market is what it is. I watched co-workers and friends 6 years ago say that I was crazy to buy a house at the price I did, and that they were waiting for prices to come back down. Well, Fast forward 6 years and my house has just about tripled in value, and they're still paying someone else's mortgage.

My point is: We've got to hit a HARD LIMIT on these things sometime, right? Where the cross section between people looking for a house/car/good that can afford to pay the crazy prices finally runs out? Maybe supply is just THAT low on things currently and I'm way underestimating the amount of upper-middle-class+ people who are alive because I'm so used to seeing people complaining about how hard life is and having to work 10 jobs just to make ends meet etc?

Otherwise apparently supply side is never going to recover and it's just whoever can splurge the most gets the thing, which frankly sounds ****ing terrible and I'll happily regress back to techno-less times

I think people have cut back on so many other aspects of life that they've found disposable income. Significantly fewer vacations, etc.

I suppose I never understood this either lol. My wife and I have taken one REAL vacation (hotel stay, resort, eating out every meal, etc) ONCE in the last 5 years.

Idk. Even though I don't feel like we are, apparently we're really frugal. We don't have a kid yet (soon), and our house is only 1/4th of MY salary as opposed to combined income (my wife's monthly takehome after taxes and 401k is double mine). We don't have car payments, etc. I still don't feel like we have the amount of ^&(% you money I'd be comfortable with before taking on these types of purchases. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't really matter how much money we did have. I am obsessed with getting a good deal, not just under current market, but historically.

Ergo, any time the market does some weird dumb **** like currently, it's simply just a time of "we're not buying anything."

Only time I'd adjust that is if I feel like it's not just temprary and this is actually just how things are going to be from now on. I certainly hope that's not the case, though, because poor people are in for one HELL of a donging if it is. New goods will only be bought by upper middle class + people, and that's horribly unsustainable IMO.
