I rubbed my ring finger tips raw... I put out this morning... I feel as if 467 burpees isn't good enough. Gonna have to do it again and shoot for higher numbers.
Lunch time bjj session is not happening for me today. My shoulders are killing me. I just got challenged on an hour crunches... but I declined and made it a 7 min. amrap. My partner did 243 in the same hour I did mine, and this dude is yolked! Do I do feel somewhat good about my numbers. |

I don't see the point in doing it again. Its a challenge of will and heart...not going to make you stronger or faster, just sore.

We just started crossfit, unfortunately our schedules keep us going only once or twice a week, but its really helping out! We went paleo at the same time too.

Crossfit im my mind is being the best you can be at whatever is thrown at your way. OK... You say I won't get any stronger after doing an hour worth of burpees with pushups? I did build my endurance, stamina, muscle memory, whatever it was, I certainly did not getting any weaker. I guarantee I will get stronger and faster.
Stupid or whatever you want to call it, don't knock it if you haven't done it. |

Keep drinking the kool-aid. At a certain point, some exercises no longer accomplish any significant physical gains, but most certainly start to rack up injury.
Let's put it this way, if your box posts a WOD for the day telling you to do 120 deadlift reps...run away. Run far, far away. |

Lets leave it at that... An hour of doing anything is not gonna kill anyone. I like to think I can do it all.
Tomorrow i'm doing and hours worth of medicine ball throws/slams, 50 yd sprints and then pullups. Strict form/straight legged. That aint as stupid as 1hr burpees is it? LOL. Later guys! I'm getting a good nights sleep tonight!!! |

A page or two back you mentioned being weak at Oly lifts.. you're failing your own definition. I'm not here to say you didn't gain anything from doing 400+ burpees, you know your body better than anyone, but nobody else in the fitness world is doing 400+ burpees to gain strength or endurance. Poor programming is poor programming regardless of what you're doing - weightlifting, running, powerlifting, swimming, writing code, and CF. Sure, it can be fun to go stupid and see what you're capable of accomplishing, but that is a one off type of thing. Hitting 400+ burpees isn't going to give you anything other than the knowledge that you hit 400+ burpees. All in all, its just pretty damned silly. But as long as your having fun....

or at the very least get into a state of overtraining. Ive come across people who say they do all this stuff, but it's usually those after a few months who say they feel like junk everytime they work out. There comes a point where you can do too much. |

Gotta agree, I see people that are overtrained all the time in my boxes. While the sense of community and camaraderie is one of the ways that CrossFit has been truly revolutionary and is a major reason behind the success in appealing to everyman/everywoman, it also means people never want to leave or miss a day. Add that to the high intensity glycolytic form of exercise and it can be a recipe for overtraining.

never knew anything about rhabdo 'till now... Thanks for the info and I will put that into consideration. I am well within my means to beat myself silly. I am the only person who know me and what I can take. I did core, worked my neck and stretched all morning. On top of yesterdays morning session, in the evening I went to my MMA camp for a good 2 hours... I'm in just about the greatest condition i've been in and I certain don't want to ruin it by injury over something stupid. As I said before I will start doing 7 minute AMRAPS. Sounds intense... I have a hard time doing 50 high jump to knee taps. Alright guys, moving on. I do the best I can everyday.

we arent trying to discourage you or anything, but most of us have seen our fair share of people who do gobs of stuff and end up getting hurt because the body is fatigued(whether you really realize or not) or they get into a state of overtraining which is not good.
I'm kind of a good example of that. After about a year or so into CF, I got into SealFit and would do it 3-5 days a week. After 5 or 6 months, I felt tired and worn down every single day. Once I cut back to 1-2 days a week(and now I dont do SealFit at all), after a few weeks I started feeling back to my normal energy level. Trust me, getting into a state of being overtrained will hit you before you even realize it. |

question for you guys, do any of you take a week off every once in awhile? for the past few days, my body has been aching alot, my energy level is in the ****ter, i don't sleep well and this morning i felt like i was about to day after about 5 burpess. i think that it is maybe time to give my body some rest and that it is my body's way of telling me that i might be over doing it.

Yes. Rest is as vital to training as eating and steroids.

well, i have been doing 2 on 1 off schedule most of the time and i do take rest days when i feel beat down but i think that a full week of maybe only mobility and stretching is on order. I know that most people recommend taking a full week every 4-6 weeks or so to let your body deload and reset itself but i haven't felt the need to do it until now.
