Unless your genetically gifted I think most crossfitters would benefit from extended breaks now and then....can't live well in a state of high cortisol levels and chronic inflammation.

I took a two 3 day break and felt great. It was hard to stay put. But my body needed it. I back to my workout regimen... MMA camp for two hrs really wore me out yesterday. I have to follow up with stretch and core.

Add in that even if your musculature feels strong, a huge component of training is your central nervous system. If you truly are burning the candle at both ends, you can easily fatigue your CNS before ever fatiguing your musculature.

I agree in the small victories. If you're going to quit on something as simple as a workout what else will you quit on. Those small victories translate to positive mind/will/heart repetitions.

Just like abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym, strength is gained while under the covers.
You're not going to get fat or lose strength from a week off. You're going to come back and after a day or two to get back into the swing or things, you're going to PR. If you perform active recovery, stretch, and rest properly, you'll probably PR on your first day back. |

As hard as I like to work and as stubborn as I am, i have to admit good R&R is where its at. I picked up the books "the fighters heart" and "the fighters mind" to help pass the time. Some of you may have read them already. Great books!

My 7 min 26.5" tire jump AMRAP = 121 reps. I'm still catching my breath. Thank god it wasn't an hour!

As a kickboxer, I know it's a different feel then going rounds in sparring but its 3 5 minute rounds or 5 5 minute rounds. 1 min per exercise, no break in between exercises, just rounds. |

After the tire jumps, I did 3 x 3 min rounds with the thai pads. 1-1-2- right push kick, 1-1-2-duck & weave-3-right side block - left high kick, finished with clinching up and alternating knees. I want my wind back! Lol! And my strength!

I have to side with this guy. Yes kipping is a lot faster and yes, it does work on more parts of your body but don't kid yourself, it is putting a LOT of stress on your shoulders. I have been doing a lot more dead hang chin ups and pull-ups and while I do still kip in wods, I am actually considering stopping that completely and converting everything to dead hangs.

73 pullup amrap 7 min... strict form all the way up, all the way down. 23, 17, 10, 10, 5's and 3 before time ran out. I'm feeling it. Low number compared to what I thought I was gonna get. I wanted triple digits...

So I finally had the embarrassing moment that I hoped would never happen. I was doing a heavy front squat wod today (5 rounds of 10x155lbs FS and 300 meter row) and during the last set as I was going to the bottom of the squat, my body decided to let one rip.of course it happened as my coach and 2 friends were next to me looks like it is time to look for a new box
