At my gym we had a monthly challenge of 5 exercises (rope slams, burpees, jump squats, pushups and inverted rows), 1 minute straight of each, sum all your reps for score. When I saw what people were counting as "jump squats" I no longer felt bad about my score compared to theirs. Not that my form is perfect either, but sheesh. I like the idea of standardizing it and imagine it would be about twice as hard with those stringent requirements.

So, I took a couple months off. First month and a half were legit (flu for a week, not 100% the next week, bronchitis for over a month, better a couple weeks, stomach flu for a few days). Rest of the time was laziness after getting out of the crossfit habit. Started back this week with goal of 3 wods. Got first two in very scaled, and I was in the parking lot at my box tonight and had a few minutes to take care of returning phone calls before places closed, forgetting I had to make an earlier class since they don't have the last two classes on Friday due to low attendance. So I missed it. Mad at myself. Tomorrow is my first ever attempt at Zues, and even very scaled I forsee much pain in my future. I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm looking forward to it anyway.

If you don't know what perfect form feels like you didn't put up anywhere near the numbers you claimed

Yeah, so much lost time because I was not getting my feet as close to my hands in the second round of burpees. Caused my position to move and made me look up to spot the target.

Some peopled rather than use a small target to hit had whole pads suspended at the proper height. No miss and didn't have to waste time looking.

OK I redid 13.1 this morning.

Got through the first 40 burpees about 15 seconds faster, and on to the 135s about 30 seconds faster. Finished the 135s at 15:37 and was torched but got 11 more burpees for a 141, a 15 rep increase from the 1st time. Still annoyed that I couldn't get to the 165lb snatch, because I was power snatching it easily in warmup. I needed to find another minute somewhere amongst the 75 and 135 snatch sets.

Pleased but not happy. I will not be doing it again

You tap and go on snatches or singling out?

75 were tap and go, 135 was dropped from the top but tried to get back to the bar within 5-6 seconds each time, until I hit 5-6 reps then a slightly bigger rest. That was the plan. It slowed down the last 15 reps though.

I got 150 on Thursday. Had 45 seconds to attempt 100lbs. Three tries and no success. Going again tomorrow but my lungs are still feeling it. Need to go as fast or faster.

Can easily snatch 100lbs so really REALLY want to get that.

Mrs. Neek finished the 75lb round in 12:14. She ended up with almost 3 minutes to try a 100lb snatch but to no avail. 150 is going to be a big bottleneck for women.

Redid 13.1 with my sights set on that 100lb snatch. Got through everything a minute faster somehow, ended with 153 total reps. Happy with that!!

Reran 13.1 yesterday, this time with a coach. 157 was my total I took way more time this round. I am still pleased with the results. Hurt much much more this time around. My buddy zack did it also, you will see him on the boards I believe his end total was 173! He is a beast, love training with him!

As you should be. That's a very nice total amongst mere mortals. Any guy that got to reps on 165 has some very solid endurance and can snatch at least decent weight (althought they can be pretty ugly lol).

We shall see. Mikko and bridges are work capacity machines and smith has gotten strong.

Going to come down to events

How was it during burpees in the oly shoes or was this not from 13.1?

What's with the gap between the weight, the clamp, and the barrel of the barbell? That weight looks like it could shift a good 4-5 inches.

The shoes were fine. These have a pretty flexible forefoot and bend very well.

I used the plastic quick clamps to speed transitions. They hold pretty well but can slide a little when you drop 135 a bunch of times. I think this shot was from near the end of the 135 set. Right side stayed put, left side shifted about an inch. Not a big deal. When I'm working oly lifts I almost never use clamps at all, since I'm changing weights all the time.

Good stuff. That speaks to your form if you can lift without the clamps.

For the record, I hate those )#$%*)#(*% clamps. Grew up with the metal squeeze clamps and just can't get used to the speed collars.

Hit 100 reps for 13.1 but just couldnt stick the snatch at 135. I had my friend record the attempts and I know what I was doing wrong. Now I just need to fix it. Definitely felt happy with the attempts but would have been much happier if I got it.

Problems to work on: Lead with my ass first and landed on my toes instead of with the feet flat and weight towards the heels. Also need to work on shoulder mobility to really lock it out overhead.

Completely depressed and discourage. I have what started out as a tweaked muscle in my left hip/buttock, tried massage therapy and keeping workouts light, but good cardio and stretching. Didn't work, just got worse, now I'm having full blown full-leg weakness and intense pain episodes, going to see an orthopedic next week.

On top of that, just had a wart treated on the bottom of my left foot (first one is 20+ yrs of walking around gym floors, the streak is over!), freakin' hurts and will likely take a couple weeks to go away fully. And last but not least, after tweaking something around my right elbow several weeks ago (can't remember, high pulls or such), it's not getting better, either. I've been on full, no-workout, no-nothing rest for more than a week, which likely has to continue indefinitely until all this s**t works itself out, and I'm going insane, and just sit here imagining all the progress I'm losing.
