Default V7 Limited sti boost surge?

Hey guys, got a strange issue with my 02 sti limited. Has the ej207 with vf30. Has an intake (just installed) and 3" exhaust.

Was merging on the highway and noticed at half throttle or so it would spool great and smooth to 1 bar and then back down to. .5 bar, then back to 1 bar again back and forth. It did that consistently the duration of my drive (tried to see if it was consistent).

Thinking it may be my BCS but there must be a reason for it to limit the boost.. Is it the new intake I added? Had the stock box and high flow filter. Now on an open filter. Id be surprised if it was, never had a problem like that with an intake and exhaust on any of my other Subarus..

Thanks guys

Are you catless? Did you try it without the intake?

Still have the stock down pipe. I didn't try the stock intake again yet. Will take it out for a drive today with both but like I have said I've owned multiple gc8s all with exhaust and intake done and no tune, never had an issue so I find it weird

check your intake you might have a boost leak.. if you think its your ebcs, unplug your bcs from the wastegate and see if it holds boost. just be careful since there is nothing regulating boost

I had an issue practically identical when I did my 3 port ebcs. I ran a grimmspeed unit on a cobb OTS tune, and it ran terrible. Boost would spike up to target perfectly, then it would drop off and feel almost like I was hitting a wall, then bounce back and forth. The issue ended up being the tuning of the ebcs, a retune fixed that issue for me.

Cool thanks for the input guys. I just did some swapping of vaccum hoses and made sure my restrictor pill was in and it was. Cleaned out my BCS too. But won't be able to take for a drive till tomorrow.

Got it working great again. Restrictor pill was plugged up after realizing I put it in the wrong spot (waste gate side) pulls great and I'm glad I can keep the stock BCS ***128513; thanks fellas!
