I got my windows tinted and didn't get the eyebrow tinting done because I didn't want to look like a bro or a redneck. Then my brother got his car tinted and got the eyebrow tint and after riding in his car once I went back and got the eyebrow tint done on mine. It actually makes a huge difference. I highly recommend it.

That's the dilemma I have. I do think it would be useful, but I'm not sure I really like how it looks. Does anyone have photos of WRX/STI's with the tint strip at the top?

What is a clear tint supposed to do? Polarized maybe?

I have 50% on my windshield. Have spoken to officers about if (its illegal where I live). They told me they had it done on their cruisers too and that if it was still clear enough to see the driver, they were happy and not to worry about it.

I would do it again 10x before getting a silly strip on the top.

How is nighttime visibility with 50% on the entire front windshield?

It's fine, but I have HIDs. I actually really like the reduction of light from on coming traffic. When I drive my girlfriends A4 I cuss the whole time.

Backing up with the 20% all around at night sucks though. I want HID reverse lights.

Hmm. This is a very hard choice. I am thinking I might do 20% all around with nothing on the windshield. I'm not sure though. I don't want it to be difficult to see at night.

Driving forward at night is fine 100% of the time for me... Including watching for the 100s of deer in my area.

Overall, I'm happy with the 20 and will do it again.

20% for sure... Strip is hit or miss. Full windshield, no way.

there's quite a few in a couple threads on 3gwrx/wrxforums.

if done right I think it looks mean and it helps me tremendously in avoiding migraines in addition to sunglasses and/or visor down.

I do have a tint strip on top, 15% (my '12 WRX Premium hatchback). I'll grab a pic today at some point and post it tonight. I didn't like it at first but I autocrossed with someone who had it, and immediately got it. It's all mental, but it made it easier to focus on what's in-front of me I think.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really think it helps haha. Its looks are growing on me too.

Thanks for all the input. Looking through those photos 20% looks really dark! I'm not sure if it would be too dark. I don't really care about how the car looks, I just want some sun blockage without hindering my nighttime driving.

I have 15% and love it. My strip is 15% too. I think you will be happy with 20% it isn't that dark. Backing up late at night in a parking lot that isn't lite is the only thing that can be annoying.

Here is a picture of mine:

Remember the white makes it look darker than it is

It looks much darker looking in... once you're in there it's really fine.
I had a friend get 35, then sat in my car and was pissed he didn't listen to me.

I have 50% on the front doors and 35% on the rest (nothing on windshield) and am quite happy. I've not noticed any decrease in night time visibility. I'll take some pics and post up later.

I'd say I'm between 30-35% or 20%. 35% seems like I'd have a lot better visibility, but I don't know how well it will block the sun for baby. I suppose I could make the rear dark and front light, but I am not really a fan of that idea.

Not the best pics, sorry. But here you go! I do like mine. It's very helpful early in the morning and in the evening when the sun is around the horizon.

Ben, you have 0 tint now so anything will be a huge help. 30% tint is blocking 70% of light.

That might work. 20% sounds enticing though too.

What percentage? If I did the strip I think I would do it light. Like 50%.

Yeah, but I don't think the percentages really translate to what the eye sees. 50% looks like barely any. Also, OEM is slightly more than 0%. You can tell if you roll the window down.

I have 30% all around and kinda wish I'd gone a little darker. If you can legally get away with it I'd go 20% all around

Ben,
This is 15% on the windshield, 0% everywhere else. Sorry for the crap quality and dirty car (finals week kills any free time I have to clean the car).

From inside:

I really like it for autocross and mornings. I think I'd go 10% or even 5% if I could do it again though. I got the same place that put my clear bra on to do it, and it wasn't much extra.

I'm still on the fence for this. I was thinking of doing 50% strip, similar to some OEM windshields, but the more I look into it, the more I think I should just buy a $10 piece of vinyl and do a solid black strip on the outside, or nothing at all...
