The OAKOS 2018 STI
https://i.imgur.com/TWXaSeP.jpg?1 After years of faithful daily driven service, it was time for us to say goodbye to the BRZ and welcome in the new addition, a CWP 2018 STI! https://i.imgur.com/4Tkk50O.jpg While this is Dave's daily driver, we plan on using this one as the "shop car," with modifications being done somewhat regularly. https://i.imgur.com/PrBGrfT.jpg First things first, it needed some new shoes. The stock 19's look alright, but the tires that came on the car were less than ideal in the Michigan winters. Which brings up a question we receive fairly regularly; What wheels actually fit these things?? With the new 6 piston Brembo's, that question was somewhat tough to answer at first. After doing a little research (and a little test fitting), Dave went with some 18x8.5 Prodrive GT1's in Flitter Silver. They fit fantastically, with plenty of caliper clearance, and look like they belong on there from the factory. https://i.imgur.com/IR3ZyUm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UvA8pW3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XhC02Rz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lM4aUlC.jpg We are not really sure where we are going from here. We have a few mods planned, but they are going to have to wait until the roads aren't getting hammered with salt. Next will most likely be some exterior visual mods, just to add a little flair. The "mod bug" has already bitten, so be sure to follow along for future modifications, as well as our impressions! -Nick Oakos Automotive

Looks good. I agree about the SE MI weather. Spring seems like it will never truly arrive.

It was a pretty busy summer for us this year, but I guess it's time for a long overdue update! We did not get too much done to the car as of yet, but it has already been put through it's paces. One of the first things done over the summer was an Accessport, which was installed about 1500 miles in. Dave ran an open track day at Waterford Hills shortly after, running the car completely factory including the map. He wanted to get a feel for the car as it came from the factory, so he had something to compare to as he made changes. https://i.imgur.com/a87o9lX.jpg At some point soon after, Rally Armors got installed. (No pictures of just the flaps, so here's Oliver the Oakos Dog instead.) https://i.imgur.com/CTgNLF0.jpg While he has the Prodrive wheels for winter, he wanted something in an 18" that would work well as a summer/track wheel. Being an 2018 STI with the 6 piston Brembos, we were originally hesitant to go with wheels without some sort of confirmed fitment. He landed on a set of the new RCT5's in 18x9.5, but he has decided against the 9.5" wide wheel and instead would like to go with a 9" wide. So, if anyone is interested in some 18x9.5 RCT5's, they clear 2018 Brembos with miles of room https://i.imgur.com/20W4t7I.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ftYwkHh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Q2J9CvD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/99k9cEZ.jpg The most recent thing done was a Cobb Catback exhaust to give it just a little more volume. Exhausts were highly debated, but eventually landed on the Cobb after seeing and hearing a few of them installed. He wanted some tone, without being too loud and obnoxious, or having too much drone. The Cobb is a nice happy medium. https://i.imgur.com/bKOpnve.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iSLVvD0.jpg Dave did a second open Track Day recently, but didn't get any pics from the event because he was too busy driving! After all the groups were done, he was able to get in 50+ Laps at Waterford Hills without even realizing. Not bad for a car that he drives to work every single day. Since it is already October, things are most likely going to slow down again for a little bit. The STI has taken up daily driver duty, and doesn't miss a beat. The Prodrive wheels will go back on when the snow flys. For the future, we do have a few plans for it. There may or may not be some pretty fancy suspension waiting to go on in the spring, as well as hopefully a set of RCT5's in 18x9. Beyond that, I guess we will see what the future holds -Nick Oakos Automotive |

I look forward to seeing further updates on this, especially since I am too a 2018 owner, but to be perfectly honest, more pooch pics.

Thank you for having this build thread! I'm interested to see how this build progresses as I have just started my journey with a 19 STI in MI too. Do you run at Waterford Hills often?

Dave had another track day at Waterford Hills last Friday. He took the STI out with the RCT5's finally mounted with 255/40 Falken 615k+'s. Even at 18x9, there is a ridiculous amount of brake clearance.
https://i.imgur.com/lgzJeon.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cwPK5SQ.jpg He had plenty of fun driving with some of the local Subaru guys, but now it's back to daily driver duty. We still have a few things in store for the future! https://i.imgur.com/NlVOEbZ.png -Nick Oakos Automotive |
