Default I need some help with my school project.

In my college speech class we have to do a persuasive speech on some topic. I choose to topic on why I Subaru's are some of the better cars out there. Anyways as a community I was wondering if you guys could give some personal experience with any of your Subaru's as far as mechcanical or utility wise or if it saved your life. If you guys can get back to me that would be great.

you can pm me or e-mail me and get in touch with me through AIM.

Subaru's Sux0r!

100,000 miles last 40,000 turboed between 6psi-10psi stock internals (never been opened) stock tranny... and a stinking Technical Service Bulletin catches up to me about the head gasket just as one springs a leak...

Still faster and more nimble than most of the cars out there... Not bad for a car I've had to redesign to survive my daily commute.

1999 Impreza RS.. One Owner.. Many many tires..

for starters I'd look at bang for your buck. Compare car costs and what you get for the price. That was one of the selling points for me. Compare some of the similar vehicles (power and option wise) and some of the comparable cars to the WRX can be up to 15K higher in price (boxter, eah I know it isn't a perfect comparision but close enough for a prof).

I would say bang for your buck! You get awd, and airbags that surround you like a marshmellow in the middle of a smore and reliablity. All that for at the most under $33000 if you went for the STi.

I (WRX34) have had some bad luck and good luck with my car:

It saved (or I did or both) my life as well as my passengers when some girl decided to turn right in front of me...the AWD and power let me get it sideways then back the other direction (like a scandanavian flick I suppose) just in time along the ditch to where she barely scratched/dented the side. This was at about 50mph and she cut right in front of me about 10 yards up giving me barely enough time to react.

I met one guy in a black 2 door RS in Lansing who flipped it a few times in a roll over...they pushed it back over and kept on driving. The Subaru design/build was so good it kept him and his codriver/passenger in perfect shape and only dented the roof and broke the glass out of some windows.

My engine luck...well besides it blowing up I'm impressed. I ran a good 20k-25k miles on a low compression/misfire where I started out at 110psi and it eventually dropped to 67.

Good luck with the paper!

Why choose a Subaru over a comparable other sedan

For same price you get:

-AWD!!!
-5 Star crash rating
-Subaru reliability (not uncomon to get 300K on engine w/out any problems)
-Boxer engine torque, smoothness, and low center of gravity
-Excelent handlnig (see above)
-rally developed and tested
Last but not least, the NASIOC comunity

^^ all the reasons listed above, plus people respect them. I love when people admire my car and tell me how much they love it

heck, i impressed a redneck the other day...

I was at a stoplight with my buddy (scrambl2) riding shotgun. A guy in a pickup and overhauls pulls up next to us and asked us if that scoop was functional. He was shocked when we said yes. At the end of the conversation, he said, "y'all take care now."

sometimes even the wierd and disgusting pleasantly surprise you

Jason, I get that from Mustang owners all day.. They all want to know what is under the hood...

I just steal Downshift1's saying and scream back, "Its stock!"

---

Back on topic, the Subaru has very good real life safety stories. I know of at least one person who totaled an old Subaru Legacy after being clipped then spinning out and bouncing off the rails several times. He walked away... Err ran screaming after the guy who clipped him.

I am in the same position as you, i have had many speech/persuasion classes and if you want to get a little more interesting a REALLY good topic to do is " why advance driving school is so important" there are alot of good ssites you can get quotes from and alot of good people on this board that have been through many, its still relatred to cars, but hits a homerun with anyone with anycar [much more persuasive} you can pm or email me and ill help if you want too...
