Default 2009 STI Stock headunit illumination stays on

Hey Guys,

Having a strange problem. I have been building my motor for the last couple years and have had it back running and driving for that last 6 months or so. Since its been back on the road i have noticed if i turn my lights on the headunit and all the other dash components illuminate as normal. But when i get home and turn car off and lights off. The headunit lights get slightly brighter and stay on. Even after a lock the car and the alarm arms.

Now i have read only one thread on a forester forum saying its LED parker bulbs being installed. I have had LED parkers installed even before i built my motor and never had this issue before.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advanced.

Check out this thread, it may help you out, though your problem seems a little different. The guy need to change out the ECU to make things right. You could trying disconnecting the ECU while the problem is occurring to see if that changes things. If that doesn't help then we can check some other things.

Hey Cougar4. Thanks for sharing that.
Now that you have mentions the ECU, I prompts me to say that i have upgraded the ECU when i built my motor. I didn't think this could be an issue, but what would be the best way to find out?

Disconnect the connections to the ECU while the problem is happening to see if that makes any change. If no change happens then the ECU is causing the problem and we need to check other things.
