Turbo recommendation?
Could someone recommend a turbo upgrade? I’ve spent some time trying to do my homework, but I’m still not sure what to get. Goal is 400-450hp. I’ve seen the Blouch’s, but there are a few variations. I’m just gonna copy and paste my setup from an old Craigslist add;

You'll probably want to do some fuel upgrades to get to that range, ID1300s should be okay, idk what LPH fuel pump you have from AEM but it might be good, find a tuner and let them know your goals, they will be more than happy to discuss what will fit into what you want, personally a FP Black is a nice way to go if you want to stick with 93 and a highly boosted GTX3076 would work too but for something like e85, it's hard to say just off the list given, a tuner would be able to point you in the right direction more effectively

I would go rotated if you can. It will offer you many benefits. Ease of maintenance, spool, power, etc.
EFR 7163 is my fave rotated turbo for your power goal. If you're staying pump gas the FP black should get you to 450WHP but at 450 you should probably be rotated. The FP red is also good, as is the 3.5XTR. The Blouch XTR turbos are ball bearing and the FPs come in journal or ball bearing. The FP blue will probably only hit your power goal on ethanol or maybe 93, but probably 400 would be your pump limit on a blue. The BCP 500+ is journal bearing, but makes great numbers with good spool and response for its size and technology. The GrimmSpeed BB500 just came out, and is very similar to the 3.0XTR in specs but has very little results with it posted yet. There are lots of options - choose wisely. And I like the 3071 more than he 3076 if you go with a GT30. Last edited by K3rm1tth3fr0g; 01-13-2022 at 02:38 AM. |

I can recommend the BCP X500+. We've done a number of them here, and have been happy with them. |

If you don’t care about spool, FP black will do you well. But it has its drawbacks, figment and pressure ratios to name a few, they’re not my favourite if I’m honest. But I would second moving to a rotated setup if you have the cash for that. The EFR’s are nice turbos, just don’t overspin them. I’ve also been really impressed with the G Series. A G25 660 would get you to your power goals and retain very good spool and street manners.

I guess I should have mentioned I'm looking for something plug and play at this point. I don't drive this car much (5000 miles since I bought it in 2017) so I'd like to stay under $2000 for a turbo. I kinda figured I should get a fuel kit first (ie; rails, fpr etc). Im staying away from E85 because there’s absolutely no where to get it where I live.

No E85.... that means larger turbo to hit your goals on pump gas. A simple rotated GT3582R on like 26psi will easily get you over 400whp and spool up faster than a stock location FPBlack. The largest stock location I'd go is like a FPGreen/PTE 55mm stock location upgrade. Anything after that I'd go rotated. You should up your injectors. You can keep your stock rails, but up the fuel press regulator to help your fuel pump. Get rid of that GFB BOV if it's leaking. You may need to convert to FMIC.
if you want 400whp, shoot for 450. |

I'm going to be doing a G30-660 on my built 2.5L with mild cams. Hoping for 400 mmmmaybe 450 on a conservative dyno with 94+Meth. 91+Meth is probably gonna be closer to 400. I think its a dynapak hub dyno I'll be on, so the numbers will be inflated.
If OP had E85 then there's a chance the G25-660 would almost hit 400, but Garrett got creative with how they rate the hp on the new G series to inflate their numbers. G25 however would have very good street manners of the turbos named so far and would be "fun" to drive even with a .82 hotside but I'd probably shoot for 1.xx.. I had a gtx2863 w/ a .82 hot side that spooled up lightning quick, but got choked for flow up top. GTX3071/GTX3076 would flow more, but less responsive on the street. You are still on stock cams so that helps. my old GT3076 hit close to your power goal but with very aggressive cams on pump gas and wasn't all that fun to drive. The car was basically dead below 3k rpm. Either way you'll want to go rotated. EFR has always interested me with their use of exotic materials in the compressor/turbine wheel to reduce rotating mass. Xona Rotor also sounds good with their XR line. I didn't see what fuel you'd be using, but on 91 I think it'd be a challenge. Others have said you might need 1300cc injectors and I'd tend to agree. If you think you'll ever get E85 then 1600's or bigger would be my choice. You may also have to do water meth injection to get extra octane, or run a fuel additive.94 or 98 octane makes higher power goals a lot easier, or at least a lot safer. |

I think the issue is the turbine wheel, it is a lil small on g25 but it flows a good bit more than a gt25. I think E85 would do it, I would go G30 if on pump. Well personally I’d put a g30 turbine clone in a gtx3071.

I'm looking for a turbo up grade and GRIM SPEED BB 500 seems to be a good choice.
Rotating cost a fair chunk of money . To bad Garett doesn't make a direct fit . My Best To Everyone |

They do. Sold through ATP...
