-I am having to replace my front bumper cover as well and I found this site, I was wondering if anyone had bought anything of this maker and if it's similar to OEM quality

i'm lowered quite a bit with the STi front lip.. it makes me nervous going in and out parking lots..

well if mine cracks.. i think it's time for a Blitz bumper..

Mine happened the same time and I even lost my tow hook cover at the same time. $80 for a barely matched cover too.

Rattles and cheap paint/plastic bumpers are the only things I don't like about the car

I think I'm going to give FRP material a shot next time I buy a replacement bumper, or hood for that matter. Right now the light bar is doing it's job well, too bad its only protecting a flawed bumper, I had to hack it to get the light bar to fit PLUS it has a crack on the front passenger side.

FRP+Light bar+Skid plate = FTW! Here's a simple equation I've been working on. Light bar can be substituted for Primitive Light Bar OR Gorilla Light bar, that is, IF you're planning on it actually protecting your car. No offense, Rally Innovations bars look sweet, but I don't think it would stop a miniature poodle from bending it.

PS> miniature toy poodles are badass childhood dogs, don't run one over ; )

Bought a used 2011 STi a couple weeks ago. One of the few things I found were two cracks, on each side of the lower part of the front bumper where everyone else gets them. Was quite curious how it happened since there isnt really any sign of scuffs or anything. This thread cleared up quite a bit. I was curious why when I closed the hood, the bumper shook around. I think subaru coulda done a better job with the front of this thing.

Bought my 2011 WRX (20k miles) last week from a Subaru dealer in Plymouth Meeting, PA. I noticed the front bumper lips were scratched up but didn't really think it was much more than a lousy parking job by the previous owner. Yesterday I got out to my car and the right lip is half broken off, hanging 3 inches above the pavement. The epoxy they used to cover up the crack failed. I'm not a happy camper. Apparently they have a bumper guy that can repair it all using plastic wielding technique. I'm skeptical.

CONGRATS on the purchase!!! Sorry to hear about the bumper. I would push for a replacement. These are notoriously flimsy and wouldn't doubt that it will break again. After that I would get up inside there and spray the hell out of it with Flex Seal. So far so good here... No guarantees though.

Thanks! Yea, I pushed for a replacement but they wouldnt budget. We'll see how the plastic wielding works out. I'll pick up some flex seal as well -- thanks.

I'm wondering if spraying the inside of the bumper with an adhesive/foam would help. My initial thought is that it would add some rigidity to the plastic, keeping it from bending (and cracking) so easily.

Something like insulating foam:

Why put the new one at risk? Just wait until it's warmer out (if it stays on the car)

Lol this **** is messy as heck, dont use it. And it won't provide any more rigidity.

Just picked up my 2011 STI with 9500 miles on it 3 weeks ago. The car was in excellent shape aside from this notorious cracked front bumper. I bargained with the dealer to have it replaced. When the new bumper was painted and ready to go they called me to bring the car in and have them install it. Instead I opted to pick it up with a truck, get it home and immediately install the STI JDM lip. I'm hoping that the lip will help prevent the crack from occurring on the new bumper.

Sorry to bring up and old thread. I know how to use search. Ive been using the search keys and engines before they were invented. Got the crack today. That little bit of play when pulling up the ebrake and letting go of the regular brake did it. Girl with the same car was parked next to me and saw it happen. She said youre lucky, my husband is missing the whole bottom section of his STi. Ive also notice this junk bumper cover vibrates all over the place at speed. Hit a bump, any size, i see the headlights jump all over the place.
Has anyone installed the 08-09 STi bumper yet? Whats needed besides the bumper and the grill?
My solution maybe to buy a Rubicon instead.
Thanks

You have to replace the fender liners as well, very expensive. I don't think it would be any stronger than just putting a lip on.

Good call. Thinking RI light bar that covers the corners also. Clear bra holding it together

I've had this crack for about three weeks now. I finally decided to try and make it look better until I get it done professionally in the spring.

Here's the small crack.

I used two zip ties and brushed some crazy glue into the crack.

I then went and used some touch up paint.

I think it looks decent for now but I might try sanding down the two small bumps and using touch up paint again.

My barely 2 month old 2014 WRX with 1300 miles on it has a small crack on the front lower bumper. I washed the car today and have no clue how it happened or how long it has been there since this winter had been crazy brutal. My guess is the extreme sub zero temps and all the ice and snow we have had did it in somewhere along the way (and my wife drives the car a lot).

I might see how bad it looks after I try to do a self repair, but it sucks if I am looking at $500-700 to replace the bumper as I was looking to do some suspension mods.

Ughhh...
