Default Want to buy a stop tech kit for my 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT AWD

Hey guys,

I am in the process of going turbo on my car. I want to buy Stop Tech brakes for it, I would do other kits but I have good experience with Stop Tech and I can get them at a pretty good price. Now on the their webiste they don't advertise it for my car. I was wondering if a kit from another subaru that stop tech makes would fit on my car. I was thinking that another kit will work because the AGX shocks from a 2.5RS will work on my car according to some reading I did on here, so I was thinking that the spindles might be the same which might allow me to use another stop tech kit for my 1998 Legacy 2.5GT. Stop tech sells 328mm kit for the following Subaru's;

83-837-4300 Impreza & 2.5RS 1998-2001
83-836-4300 Impreza 2.5RS 2002-2004
83-836-4300 Impreza WRX 2002-2004
83-836-4323 Impreza WRX 2002-2004
83-836-4623 Impreza WRX 2002-2004
83-838-4600 WRX STi 2003-2005

Now Cobb Tuning also has a kit that looks very similar to a Stop Tech kit, I think they paint out the Stop Tech name and re-name them as their own. They offer it for their 1995-2003 Legacy/Outback (all), here is a link to their website http://cobbtuning.com/legacy/brakes.html#bigfront and its also a 328mm kit like the Stop Tech.

Also this online place sells stop techs and they say they have it for any subaru http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/Br...0Upgrade%20Kits

Well all in all I just wanted to know if some of you guys can help me in narrowing down on which kit exactly would fit my car because I can get a good price for these through a friend of mine who only does BMW and is a retailer for Stop Tech but he said that I need to make sure what kit it is before I order. All responses welcomed and looked forward to.

Thanks,
Matt

Well I am going to have 18 inch rims, Stop Tech says the minimum is 17 inch and probably with spacers. So you're saying if I order any of those kits it will work or should I order the first one? Would that be a safer thing to do.

I believe Stoptech only use fully floating discs and reading between the lines the Cobb kit does not. There are numerous papers on the Stoptech site about floating discs.

I wouldn't buy the Cobb kit without knowing who really makes it.
