Don't know if the 06 wrx's are the same, but my car has been running fine without it. Did you have a total of 2 valves or just 1? I had a valve over the transmission on the driver side and one under the intake manifold on the driver side.

as the photos i posted above show, the 07 STi is different... one valve and the atm. pressure sensor is integrated into the air pump.

All right. I wasn't sure since you said you didn't have a valve on the passenger head, but both of mine were on the drivers side (ie, 2 valves, none on the passenger head). Did your car run really lean/rich or rough with the valve disconneted? My mileage has been roughly the same (went stage 2 since then, etc) so would there be any other way to notice that the ECU is disconnected from the atm sensor?

Thanks.

I'll try to get a pic of mine. It has the same sensor in it (06 FXT) and the wiring diagram in the Subaru service manual indicates it is a sensor as well. No problems running without mine either.

i'm almost positive that the 06 WRX does not have this sensor integrated into the valve i am talking about.
i was logging with enginuity trying to monitor some key values including boost and it was only reading 11 psi max ever (my gauge indicated 17-18 psi), so something obviously wasnt right. i dont know what this would affect on the car but it was not tuneable this way and i'm not sure if it would trigger the overboost fuel cut either.

^ did you leave any tubes connected to the valve? or did you simply cap both ends of the valve?

or did you blockoff the head and then leave the valve uncapped?

Have you looked at any wiring diagrams? It may just be the signal running through that plug, not the sensor itself. In which case you could get a plug and wire it to work.. just a though.

I just removed my airpump w/ the buschur plates, still waiting on other parts to put it back together

the head was blocked off and either side of the valve was left open since it is no longer part of the system. there is nothing connected to the valve any more, i stripped off everything that i reasonably could. all that remains is the valve itself and the bracket to attach it to the engine.

hmm, someone on enginuity.org helped me troubleshoot the problem and i decided to try plugging that valve back in, it fixed the problem and i never thought more about it. i have not looked at wiring diagrams myself so i'm not sure how things are arranged specifically, but thats an interesting thought.

Does anybody know what the valve situation is on the 2008 WRX or STI? Does it just have the injection into the driver side cylinder head... or both... or what?

Thanks...

Well seems all 07+ Subaru's come with a special pollution control device.

Quick question.....I'm having my car tuned on the 2/29/08 by Jorge from P&L..Will he be able to turn off the codes that will come on by removing the air pump? If so then I'm going to have him do that.

yes, make sure he disables all codes related to the secondary air pump.

As soon as i turned mine on I got p2431, p2433, and p2444. My tuner disabled those, and a few days later I got p0410, after I disabled that I got p0411 so I disabled them all. The whole system is gone, might as well.

will the car still run fine with these codes triggered? I probably won't be able to meet with my tuner until a couple weeks after the removal.

Thanks

Why would you lose cruise control by deleting emissions equipment and it's subsequent CELs? Is this applicable to the 06 WRX as well?

On DBW cars, you lose cruise control when you have a CEL. That's all he was saying.

Fix the CEL, and cruise control works again.

Never found this thread when I did my block offs about 4-5 months ago.

The 06 WRX does have both valves and the pump. The drivers side valve and hard lines are not too bad to get off. The passenger side is a PITA. What I did was take off the up-pipe, downpipe, and disconnect the inlet tube and then with some twisting and finesse you can lift the hard line and valve out.

I did this when I installed the FMIC and it really does clean up the engine bay.

I took a dremel to my passenger hardline to get it out. Cut it in half and was done with it. Definitely cleans up the engine bay and drops some "useless" weight.

Also forgot to mention I tune with Enginuity (RomRaider) and disabled all the codes (15 of them) and never had a problem.
