Did you get the number of the truck that hit us?

This AM...

(Body) Just stay in bed. Try to sleep thru as much as you can.

(Brain) If you don't get up and get some fluids, some people will be coming with a gurney to get you out of bed.

After a liter of water, Tylenol, and Advil. I'm slowly recovering.

That's consistent with previous vax. By 2pm with a little food and a lot of water, I'll ve mostly back to normal.

I got my flu shot around lunch time Tuesday.

Felt fine when I woke up Wednesday, was somewhere around 60% by 9am, and finally told the boss "I'm dragging my ass home" at lunch time.

Hang in there. I hope you continue to feel better.

I feel better than I expected actually, body aches and headache, so I'll take it. My deltoids hurt like hell though. Plus it's a great day in mid-atlantic to lay around doing nothing. This is the first Friday of a few consecutive months for various Vax series for me, so I made sure it I had no plans any of those Saturdays just in case.

On the mend as well. Slight headache, but general aches are mostly gone now.

And yeah, I got both stabs in my left arm. It hurt like a mother last night and this AM. Put the heating pad on it after I got up and it's more normal now. More of a nuisance at this point.

I'm gonna get some more water and resume normal weekend stuff in about 30min. Broken stuff isn't going to fix itself!

I spoke too soon.

I was feeling pretty okay, so went to putter around the garage.

An hour later I'm out of breath, pounding headache, and lightheaded.

Gonna spend the rest of the day on the sofa making sure I don't let the NSAIDs wear off.

Just the normal Friday night asshattery.

35mph speed limit.

My educated guess is some drunken moron was doing about 65mph on that road Friday night when a car pulled out of our neighborhood entrance not realizing how ridiculously fast they were going.

Moron obviously swerved to miss them and eded up running into the brick sign at the end. Left their crappy Toyota plastic wheel cover behind at the scene.

We're on an island and there is no road with a speed limit above 40mph.

Yet every single weekend you can drive around and find a brick sign, or brick mailbox, or brick fence post completely demolished where some drunk asshat ran off the road.

There are two homeowners who live at the end of Tee intersections. Both of them have built 4ft high earth berms about 10ft back from the road because so many drunk morons would blow through the intersection straight across and destroy stuff on their property.

There's another Tee intersection where the house is only about 30ft back from the road. They have had vehicles barrel through the huge 14ftx10ft red/white striped sign and hit their house before driving off. They started building a berm and the county told them it was a safety hazard. So they built a giant wooden planter filled with rock and dirt.

I'll be 37 this december. My main hobby is bonsai currently. I don't have enough time to grow anything of greatness from anything small before I'm enfeebled. Getting old sucks and damn we don't live very long.

You have that many bars in a low country semi-rural area? Idiots abound on the road regardless of being imbibed.

You know, now that you mention it and I think about it more...yes we do. A lot more.

When we first moved here in '96 there were 4 bars and 1 liquor store.

There was a country club/golf course, the local dive bar, a restaurant/bar, and an outdoor beach bar.

But now there are 3 liquor stores.

Kroger added a bar (that has people at it near-continuously).

A minigolf place that used to have video games, party room, etc. has become a bar.

The local family-run restaurant replaced their dessert/froyo bar with an actual bar. It is now 80% of their revenue.

A local pizza joint became a full-time daiquiri bar.

Another local dive bar has opened.

And virtually every Mex and BBQ place (3 of each) used to serve alcohol, but have now added a full bar area.

translation below the pic

"... Yes, I've always had an affinity for little things...but I have enough of all the trains, ship and car models..."

"My true passion I've found with bonsai, the Japanese art of cultivating dwarf trees!"

"First you have to prevent the plant from growing... hehehe... as a young plant you put it in too small pots, repots it often..."

"...each time you cut, chop!, with a scissor all those little roots which are trying to grow, snip-snip!"

"...then you rip off almost all the buds and sprouts...you can also pinch then off very slowly with your fingernails.... hehehe..."

"...despite everything there still will be the main sprout and one or two puny twigs... those you fold, twist and bind into abnormal positions with wire, so that they will over time grow into perverse forms..."

"...you force them with hooks to crawl, you can also pen them in between stones... certain grafts are also common... personally I prefer..."

"Hey! Who's interrupting my... damn it!"

"You damn brats! How often have I told you not to climb the trees!"

"We won't do it again..." "...dad!"

Before I stopped looking at IG, I saw some of Tommy Lee's bonsai collection and I have to say it's pretty cool.

- Movie tickets for a matinee: $12.50 each, then a $4 convenience fee tacked on for buying them online. I can guarantee you that me buying them online has saved you guys money. GFY with your extra fees.

- Movie start time was 3:20pm, yet it didn't actually start until damn near 3:50pm. What happened to maybe 10 minutes of previews then the movie starts? I don't need to see trivia and commercials and other crap. You don't need to advertise that the theater has a snack bar and sells popcorn and Coke products, we all ****ing know that already. Why has this been normalized? What's next, five minutes of commercials every 20 minutes to give addicts the opportunity to check their phones?

- A Haunting in Venice wasn't terrible. Not great by any means but not bad for something to do on a rainy Sunday. And an anomaly being only 1hr 45 minutes long (plus 30 minutes of commercials of course) when everything nowadays is like 2.5 hours, because apparently a longer movie means a 'better' movie for some people.

All totally legit gripes.

The 30min of commercials before the feature film have been that way for years.

And of course, if they didn't do those 30min of commercials they could probably squeeze in another showing. Which tells me they make way more from the commercials than from selling tickets.

Back in my day.... you could count to 5 previews (after the theater chain commercial to buy coke) and the movie would start.

Gripe: getting a stomach virus on late Wednesday/ early Thursday that is just now showing signs of fully running its course. This is not helping my already slackass at my running training.

Gripe: entitled cyclists.

Guy on an ebike blew right by the stopped bus as my kids were getting on this morning. Didn't even slow down or stop pedaling. I yelled at him and he just shrugged.

Same road, same rules. Oh except for bikes.

Riding around a neighborhood, I don't give a damn. Just be courteous as if you were another driver. No vehicles in sight? No need to stop at that intersection.

The second your spandex wearing ass sets foot on a public road outside that neighborhood, all the responsibilities and laws of operating a vehicle on-road are now incumbent upon you.

It's sad when I've seen oblivious tourist pedestrians act with more self preservation and awareness than many cyclists.

I argue with a co-worker all the time about bicyclists on the road. They need to be on the sidewalk, that's where they belong. If they ride in the road, they need to do the speed limit and obey ALL traffic laws.

Similar-ish gripe: The retail-heavy 'town center' where my office is is patrolled by a few security guys in golf carts. They either do not know or do not GAF about stop signs, right-of-way rules or pedestrians in crosswalks.

Even in this little microcosm, the 'authorities' abuse what little power they have. I guess I should be glad they aren't armed!

They are not just ******** on the road.

I was out on my afternoon ride the other day on the local inter-urban bike trail. An older couple come riding up behind me on their ebikes and I let them pass. They instantly slowed down in front of me. No biggie, there was a road crossing coming up. We all got there at the same time and they proceeded to yell "CROSSWALK!" at every car that went by without stopping. That's when I hit the button for the cross indicator lights that alert drivers.

A bit further down the trail, I got sick of them riding so slowly in front of me, so I put on some speed, said "on your left" and passed them, eventfully putting a few hundred yards between us. Them we came to a long incline and I was slowed. They passed me. Then they slowed down to a crawl which really killed my momentum. I was so happy to split of and hit the dirt trail when it came up.

In some states not all the laws are the same. Stopping for a school bus is the same. In Oregon and some others, cyclysts can treat a stop sign as a driver does a yeild signh, and a stop light as a driver treats a stop sign. It's caled an "Idaho" stop becasue Idaho was the first state to do it. I

At first, I thought it was just lazy people complaning that it's hard to get moving again, and that it takes too much time. Turns out that there is something like a 15% decrease in bike related traffic accidents. It's been a couple of years, and I still feel weird running signs and signals.

Riding on a sidewalk is a good way to get hit by a car since most motorists backing out ot their driveway don't expect something going even 8 MPH let alone 20 MPH, which is a common average speed on a bike.

All that said, there are a lot of prick e-bike riders. Many also don't think they need to obey the laws in forests, adn rather that do sone actual work the get laws updated for pedal-assited e-bikes, they just plan on not getting caught, adn if caught, expet the LEO to be lenient. I have a similar feeling about people that don't care about private property rights. I sort of hope soneone shoots them.

The stop sign thing makes sense to me. There's too much traffic in LA to not wait for lights.

Right on red too, but determing how fast a car is going, and how fast the average rider thinks they can get across an intersection seems like a bad combo.
