My biggest concern with the 400Z is that it's still the 370Z underneath it all. I'm hoping the engine is sufficient, but also for the overall driving engagement to be improved, possibly even rewarding.

My biggest concern with the 400Z is that it's a Nissan. That pretty well eliminates it from consideration for me. I don't care how much they improve the old chassis I'm just not spending my money on a Nissan.

I could probably warm up to the new headlights, but that's about it for me. But I'll be the first to admit that I have strongly disliked the looks of every generation since 2008, and by the end of the generation my mind was changed and ended up loving them. So we'll see. I think the mid cycle refreshes help a lot. Subaru knows how to clean them up pretty well. The revised body kit was a big hit last generation and I personally think the black Evo X front bumper treatment did wonders on the current generation cars, especially in colors like silver and white (which I own). |

I know, I know. I'm in the minority of car enthusiasts who isn't unreasonably obsessed with 400WHP from a bulletproof engine mated to a robust 6-speed manual AWD package in something that can whoop sports cars that cost at least twice its price.

I think we have yet to see the full potential of CVTs.

I had posted this on my instagram page in September of last year.
STINickTuned Not too far off from what we can see. Nothing surprising either. But the STI will definitely be a '23 MY at this rate.. I stopped by my local Subaru dealer the other day and the lot was empty. Cars were spaced out and parked diagonally to make it look like they had more inventory than they do. Not a single WRX, STI or BRZ (new or used). I also saw this render back in March that was a bit more aggressive.. Last edited by WRXnick16; 07-01-2021 at 09:24 AM. |

Those cars have STI badges, so that's not exaxtly what's being teased.

I do like the tendency to take the roofline to the rear, or almost the rear. It mitigates the bulbous greenhouse. It's why I prefer the Impreza 5-door and Crosstrek... the lines work great. |

Highly doubt it's a hatch. Keep in mind those are unofficial renders aka made by dudes with tons of spare time and Photoshop.

I'm one of those who have been trying to read the tea leaves around the runout of the current generation, as for my own bunch of reasons, I wanted my next DD to be a 2021 EJ even though I think the FA24 next generation will likely be better in many respects. I originally had hoped to be able to go until the fall and still find a new STI here in Canada in my color/spec.
I have been watching the inventories in the 18 dealers across southern Ontario from Windsor to Kingston and I have seen a steady decline in WRX and STI on hand. With this week's announcement, I went ahead and closed on the ONLY "Sport" STI available from all those dealers (in Canada, the STI comes in three trims, with the middle one called "Sport"). Not really sure if there won't be other cars trickling into the system over the next months before the 2022 arrives, but it seems, at least here, that old-gen supply is running out sooner than Subaru wants, I assume due to all the COVID impacts. Anyway, it is a little earlier than I wanted, but I will give my '02 bugeye to my son, and maybe some years from now, the likely new FA teething issues will be more ironed out! |

I figure the less desirable it looks, the closer to reality it is.
